Considering everyone has Spencer rated as the top OLB available, and that alot of teams play the 3-4 I'd say you are just bitching again just to bitch.

Ahmad Brooks is not as good a player as Spencer is, and is already a guy who has been disciplined by the league. Spencer's deal would have been AT LEAST what he got, and most likely more on the open market. I dont know why this is so hard for some of you to understand.

What's so hard for me to get my head around is why Anthony Spencer deserves a long term deal. Players who can hold the edge on the outside like him are a dime a dozen. Hell, you can scheme that if you have a D-coordinator worth his salt.

And you're right, Anthony Spencer would command a huge market from teams who are starting from scratch at 3-4 and who need a stop-gap player at SOLB.

We've seen historically bad results from our D the past few years and our answer has been to give half of them raises and replace only Alan ball and brooking and Bowen .(although brooking and ball still played and hatcher was a downgrade)


The more you spend on the same the less room for change

What I'm saying is our choices of folks that are better than Spencer is 0 nada, zilch.

You don't create a new hole, by cutting him when you have NO ONE to replace him with and a host of other holes you need to go shopping for. To me it makes sense. If they can replace him with a better product on the field, I won't shed a tear. But he's better than anyone else on this team at where he plays that would replace him.
