Cornerback Mike Jenkins has agreed to a one-year deal with Oakland.
Running back Felix Jones has visited Cincinnati but left without a contract.
It’s been quite a fall for the two players the Cowboys selected in the first round of the 2008 draft. But even though the Cowboys are moving on without two players they considered a key part of their future just five years ago, owner Jerry Jones rejects the notion that Jenkins and Jones are busts.
“We got starting time out of both of them,’’ Jerry Jones said recently. “That’s not enough, but those guys aren’t NFL busts.
“We were proud to have him (Felix Jones) with that No. 1 pick, and as late as last year I was proud to have that No. 1 in Jenkins. But it is five years down the road now.’’
Jenkins started 48 games for the Cowboys but was bumped down the depth chart last season with the additions of Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne. He had just one interception in his final 38 games for the Cowboys.
Felix Jones started 23 games and was hampered by injuries throughout his career with the Cowboys. He never rushed for more than 800 yards in a season and was held below 20 yards on the ground in seven games last season.
