Cornerback Mike Jenkins has agreed to a one-year deal with Oakland.

Running back Felix Jones has visited Cincinnati but left without a contract.

It’s been quite a fall for the two players the Cowboys selected in the first round of the 2008 draft. But even though the Cowboys are moving on without two players they considered a key part of their future just five years ago, owner Jerry Jones rejects the notion that Jenkins and Jones are busts.

“We got starting time out of both of them,’’ Jerry Jones said recently. “That’s not enough, but those guys aren’t NFL busts.

“We were proud to have him (Felix Jones) with that No. 1 pick, and as late as last year I was proud to have that No. 1 in Jenkins. But it is five years down the road now.’’

Jenkins started 48 games for the Cowboys but was bumped down the depth chart last season with the additions of Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne. He had just one interception in his final 38 games for the Cowboys.

Felix Jones started 23 games and was hampered by injuries throughout his career with the Cowboys. He never rushed for more than 800 yards in a season and was held below 20 yards on the ground in seven games last season.

Both situations have cost us. If it was a lower round it would be okay, but we need to have a higher batting avg with the first rounders.

agreed, they're not technically "busts," but so what? is that a silver lining or something?

The fact that Jerry feels the need to defend himself (and these selctions) should tell you all you need to know.

At one point we were proud to have Shante Carver with "that No. 1 pick."

I hope we're proud to have all of our No. 1 picks. What's his point?

Oh, and if he was proud to have Jenkins as a former number 1 pick after having traded up to get Claiborne, he's a moron.

I think we got enough out of Jenkins to not be a "bust".. but Felix is a definite bust. He was a draft pick that should have never happened to begin with.

He was a solid starter his whole career, and the doesn't earn a second contract ignores what we've done at that position in mistakenly giving Scandrick money, handing out a huge contract to Carr and having Mo fall in our laps. Not bust material.

Especially since Forte,Rice and Jamaal Charles were still there.
Charles was still available when we picked Marty B.
