Jones: It’s a privilege for me to be criticized when the Dallas Cowboys are struggling
By Jon Machota
8:30 pm on November 24, 2013

Jerry Jones probably gets criticized as much as any owner or general manager in professional sports.

Following Sunday’s 24-21 victory over the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys owner called taking that criticism a “privilege.”

“I mean this,” Jones said. ”I mean it. It’s a privilege. It’s an absolute labor of love and a privilege to be critiqued if the Cowboys aren’t doing good. It is an honor to get to be with the team, the league and the game. I don’t like it. I want to do something about it to change it.”

The Cowboys improved to 6-5 with the victory and pulled to within a tie atop the NFC East standings, so obviously Jones was in a good mood.

But just to make sure everyone understands that he’s not giving up his general manager title any time soon, Jones added this to the end of his answer about taking the heat from critics.

“I don’t agree with what some people want me to do to change it,” Jones said. “I hope no one thinks I am going to listen to that. Having said that, I expect it and frankly I do – it’s a big part of my life and I cherish [the criticism].”

Jerry Jones: ‘Part of my job is I want everybody to think highly of Jason Garrett’
By Jon Machota
8:39 pm on November 24, 2013

Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said earlier this week that Jason Garrett would remain the team’s head coach next season.

Before kickoff on Sunday, Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM] that “it wasn’t much” to make that commitment because there was nothing else to say, Garrett is still under contract next year.

Obviously a 24-21 win over the division rival New York Giants is a nice feather for Garrett to put in his cap. But Jones said after the game that this game was not about the team’s head coach.

“I spoke to that earlier in the week and I still stand by that,” Jones said. ”This game was not about Jason. But it was about, to some degree, giving us a chance to do something about this team and as it’s perceived since Jason’s been the coach. It’s a big deal. Part of my job is I want everybody to think highly of Jason Garrett.”

He is saying that he is GM and the fans can kiss his ass. He will remain GM as long as he wants.

Yep. And when he's laying on his deathbed in 5, 10, 15, 20... however many years from now - having never won another Super Bowl... he will die with sadness in his heart knowing that he was wrong, he couldn't do it his way.

And I will laugh my fucking ass off.

We're in full Al Davis mode now. Unless a season goes totally in the shitter, he's only going to get worse.

It would literally take an empty stadium and Cowboys ratings to be in the shitter for weeks before he changes. Hit him in the pocket book is the only thing he recognizes.

So how do we do that?

That is the reason that games like the one played yesterday doesn't excite me in the least. At the end of the day, there is no hope. I have the expectations of the Dallas fans of the 70's. I want Super Bowls and nothing else is acceptable. This is not that good of team and it will never be with the asshole egomaniac running things.

My standards aren't even that high. I just want to be a consistently good team, one of those top 3-4 teams in the conference that instantly come to mind like the Packers, Saints, Harbaugh Niners, Seahawks, etc. I don't think that's too much to ask for as long as we have Romo, and I really think that could happen if Jerry would get a better coach. But of course he won't because Garrett is basically an extension of Jerry.

As for yesterday, yeah, I'm not excited either. We beat a 4-6 team. For some reason people are acting like this year's Giants are the same team that went on that 2007 playoff run.

The front office's gross incompetence was more than I could take.

I didn't need Super Bowl championships. Give me a well run football operation -- an organization that functions well and that makes sound decisions. I want to know that the organization's decisions are well considered and rational, even if/when some of the decisions don't work out as intended.

You're still a Cowboys fan deep down.

I hear you but I don't hear you.

It's a privelage to be criticized but I absoultely have no regard for your criticism.

Jerry enjoys being criticized. Fans tolerate, if not enjoy, being punished by Jerry.

It is all rather sadomasochistic.

So how do we do that?

We can't do anything, seat licenses are already sold that come with season ticket purchase commitments, if cowboy fans aren't seating in those seats, the opposing teams fans will be.

The only good thing I've seen come out of that stadium is jerry not being able to show his ugly mug on his stupid big screen because the stadium erupts in boo's and I hope that continues

I think it would be hilarious if the miracle of winning another Super Bowl happened and when jerry inevitably charges the stage to take all the credit he gets drowned out by a chorus of boo's making his incoherent speech unhearable to all

Yes, Mr. Jones, I am a bad boy.

Yes you are and you deserve to be punished. You are a very bad boy.

Just for that, I'm going to make you watch this for three and a half hours every week, for 16 weeks.

And there are no safe words.
