Asked his team's biggest draft need, Jerry Jones didn't cite one particular position Monday from the Senior Bowl.

Did you really think he'd tip his hand in late January? Truth is, the Cowboys are just getting started in their evaluations. They don't know who might be available at No. 9. That process will start to become clearer over the next couple of months.

But this is the time to start speculating, and Jones did give some insight into the team’s thinking at a variety of spots.

First, the offensive line: “You look at numbers, you’ve got five positions on the offensive line and certainly that gives you a chance to address that area because of the numbers of players that you play in that unit. But I think we look at -- and it doesn’t surprise me that we still could have a need in the offensive line because of just that.”

Then, skill positions: “Obviously I’m pleased with where we are at quarterback and running back, receiver and tight ends. Those are areas that I feel good about that we have on the team. But that’s not to preclude from going there under the best player at the time. But we’re good there.”

Front seven: “I really like where we are on our front seven. Sean Lee is going to be a bigger contributor, but in general our front seven is a real positive for us in terms of personnel and I think it had a lot to do with Rob (Ryan) joining the Cowboys.”

Secondary: “And frankly our corners, if you compare us to other teams across the league we’re in good shape at corner, but that doesn’t mean we wouldn’t look at a corner. And safety, we were strong there last year, brought a lot of numbers on our roster on safety, but that’s an area we could be looking at, too.”

Basically, Jones isn’t ruling much of anything out. And for a 6-10 team, he knows there’s room for improvement in a lot of areas.

Our front seven is set.

Ware, Ratliff.....then an awesome collection of DEs that never penetrate, two complete stud ILBs that don't make big plays and can't cover a lick, a supreme pass rushing compliment opposite Ware who rarely touches the QB. No true NT.

I mean, we're loaded.

Why would anyone expect Jerry to reveal who he is looking at or what positions he wants to draft? You don't get the players you want, and especially don't get steals, if other teams know what you are after.

No one with common sense would reveal what area they are looking to in the draft.. that's why we expect Jerry to.

Seriously though.. why even talk at all? Where are all these other 25 minute interviews with team owners at the Senior Bowl?

Go look on their sites if you wanna read them. You won't find them on any Cowboys site.

Anyone expecting Jerry to say what we're gonna draft is a fool. If you watched the team play this season you know where we're weak. You wouldn't need the owner of the team to spell it out for you.

That's about the size of it.

It's not like it's a freaking secret of where this team is soft.

The Hammer is correct.

We're still f'd because our owner is still large and in charge.

All the optimism I had with Garrett went out the window with Jerry the face of the franchise in Mobile.

Nothing's changed. Just a new set of scapegoats. If Garrett can win in this situation, they need to start a new wing in the hall of fame for him.

Im sure at Jerry and every other coach/GM will discuss what areas they feel are weaknesses for them. Truth is i don't think it really matters unless they start discussing specific players they are trying to target.

I don't think anyone hear needs Jerry to tell us where we are weakest at.. that's not really the point.

The point? Why talk at all Jerry? You're the owner.. stay in the background, sip some MaiTais, and focus on helping Jason with evaluating the talent, not popping off half hour long interviews to the press babbling on like a baffoon, ultimately saying nothing of value.

By the way.. show me one other half hour interview with any NFL owner/GM at the Senior Bowl? I doubt you find any.. i haven't.

You won't find any. Unless Al gets wheeled out to blow some stink off him.

Why does he do it? Because of his ego. He wants to be the man. He needs to be the man. And, the truth is, he doesn't give two shats about winning if it means he has to sacrifice his ego for the good of the team.

He was "miserable" with Jimmy. He "walked on egg shells" with Parcells. His words.

The man isn't interested in winning.
