Jerry Jones glad he spent No. 1 picks on linemen in 2013, 2011, but isn't promising he'll do it again

Jerry Jones has gotten an All-Pro player and an all-rookie team player out of the last two No. 1 picks he invested in the offensive line.

But he said that does not mean he’ll do it again.

“I gladly used those two. I don’t know that I’ve got confidence in using any more,” the Cowboys general manager said Monday at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., where the top-rated guard in the draft, Baylor’s Cyril Richardson, is practicing. “This is an either-or proposition, and if you use your resources one place, you don’t have them to go another place.”

Smith, the Cowboys’ first-round pick in 2011, earned second-team All-Pro honors this season. Frederick, taken with the No. 31 pick in 2013, was the center on the Pro Football Writers of America all-rookie team.

They are only the offensive linemen drafted in the first round by the Cowboys since 1981.

“I don’t regret at all using those two No. 1s to get Frederick and Smith and don’t know if the circumstances would present themselves to use another one,” Jones said. “We have used 2s a lot, relatively speaking – not a lot – but 2s on Larry Allen, 2s on Flozell Adams. That’s a pretty high pick.”

Jerry is the ultimate fan. Only fans want to spread picks out every where for every hole as opposed to deciding on a philosophy and making one unit great; therefore, establishing your whole team's identity around it.

Because we don't have an identity, and thus don't know how to collect talent.

When we ran the 3-4; we hardly drafted LBs.

When we switch to the 4-3; we hardly collect any DL talent.

We're so concerned with making the total roster impressive that we only sprinkle talent onto certain areas of the team. So when we miss on picks, which happens quite frequently, we are thin everywhere.

The dipshit wants to talk about how valuable 2nd rounders are and he wastes them on tight ends and trades them away to get shit for brains players like Morris Claiborne. Idiot.

If I was Jerry Jones I would hide my face if I saw a camera like criminals who get caught do. He runs towards them and talks and talks and talks.

Anything requiring more than monosyllables that you would like to retort with?

whats the broncos identity? peyton manning?

whats the pats identity?

you just need to be a good team to win - the whole identity thing is bullshit...

what about the saints?

what about the packers?

throwing the ball for billions of yards is an identity? no...its called having a great QB

It's a bit more than that. It's building your team unit by unit.

I took a picture of my unit the other day. It's on my phone. I can upload it if everyone wants.
