Nope sorry if that's how I made it sound. My buddy coaches JuCo football in California. He has attended a bunch clinics and camps where the Ryan brothers were guest speakers/counselors and he currenty uses the 46 Defense. It's his opinion that a big safety like Wilson or Mays, who may not be the best deep cover guys, can shine in Ryan's scheme. The safety he used last year isn't necessarily big, but he's athletic as hell, and he earned a D1 scholarship to Tennessee. He lined him up all over the field and gave him an opportunity to make plays.

Rex Ryan actually uses two Free Safety types with Leonhard and Pool. Jim Leonhard, despite his small frame, is still pretty physical.
