OXNARD, Calif. – Jerry Jones has been known to have a pet cat or two during his days as owner and general manager of the Dallas Cowboys. On Sunday, he identified four young players who are standing out in this year’s training camp.
During KTXA-TV Channel 21′s broadcast of the Blue-White Scrimmage, Jones named three defensive linemen and one wide receiver that have caught his eye.
On defense, he mentioned rookie tackles Ken Bishop, Davon Coleman and Dartwan Bush.
“All three of those are really accounting for themselves as to the rest of the group,” Jones said. “I think if you polled it right now and we’re picking the top 10 defensive linemen, they’d be in the mix. You got to give them a lot of credit. You can’t keep them out of the reps.
“They just jump up there and want to take every one of them. That’s an advantage of being as eager as they are.”
Wide receiver Devin Street, a fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, scored a touchdown during Sunday’s scrimmage. Shortly before that, Jones mentioned Street’s route-running.
“You can’t help but be impressed with No. 15,” Jones said. “He’s what we thought he was at our third receiver. He’s getting a lot of reps here, but he’s a real exceptional route runner for a rookie.”
