Godfrey, same time period:

106 games, 95 starts, 13 sacks, 4 interceptions, 541 tackles.

Pretty comparable numbers. Slight edge to Godfrey. Don't think you pay a guy elite money when you have a guy that can step in and play to the same level.

Godfrey was a much more dynamic player than Nguyen and played in more games.

Sure they do. Jerry said we didn't have the money for Godfrey but re-signs Coakley for the exact amount of dollars - 25 mil- the following year.

It was a big overcorrection from none other than the master fuck up himself.

He didn't but he was an All-Pro in 2003. 121 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered. Started all 16 games.

Not to defend Jerral, but I don't think it was a matter of not having the money. I think they saw a cheaper alternative and a comparable player in Nguyen. There was no replacement for Coakley, and he was a Pro Bowler and a fan favorite.
