The work you did is impressive and I dont disagree with much, but I feel Garrets game planning, penalties and ability to adjust during the game is where he was weakest and in todays NFL where playoffs ared decided by maybe one win or loss. His inability to change the above listed is grounds for removal.

That said. It would have been nice to see what he could have done with a solid offensive line

Great post, yimmyyammer. The best pro-Garrett attempt I've seen.

My biggest gripe with Garrett is his ego. By that, I mean, his inability to recognize that he needs help in a big way.

I think he'd be a fantastic CEO type coach. He has a good message. He seems like a good motivator - players have tweeted/commented about what great speeches he gives, etc. And I think he really knows what he wants in individual football players and is reshaping the roster appropriately.

But he needs strong coordinators. He needs to shed the offensive playcalling responsibilities. Because, quite frankly, he really sucks at it.

And I'm not going to argue individual playcalls. I know a lot of it has to do with execution. And I know it's hard to do much with this offensive line. What I'm tired of is the playclock always running down to 1 second before the ball is snapped, routinely preceded by Romo yelling KILL KILL KILL on like, 2/3rds of the plays.

If he gets a qualified coordinator, I think he can coach this team to some wins. But he's refused to do that previously, and he's blind to the problems we have. Considering how inept our offense has been, I find his comments that "we" feel him being in total control of the offense just as assinine as Jerry's comments that him being GM gives the team an advantage.

There needs to be a complete change. And if you're going to force a playcaller on Garrett, then you might as well fire the guy.

This is such a unique, shitty situation to be in. This team feels doomed.

yimyammer yeah that was excellent. I completely agree with you about how it's a bad idea to keep changing coaches, but that's literally the only benefit I can see to keeping Garrett. I think maybe Jerry really wants it to work out and this is the last gasp - maybe Peete and Ryan were forced on Jason by Jerry and he's saying ok you have one last chance with ALL your own guys.

That amount of roster turnover is not unusual throughout the NFL over the course of two years, unless you've begun to rebuild in earnest and you're filling your team with young players on 3-4 year contracts.

Thx for the kind words.

Guys, I'm just as exasperated and frustrated as you and you're not alone in having that hopeless feeling. Garrett is not above criticism and he is far from perfect. I'm frustrated as hell about the offense and blame them more than the D for this seasons failures. The O has started slow since 2007, what the heck is going on there, its like their trying to run in quick sand.

Hell, part of my argument is we're probably damned if they fire him and we might be damned if they don't.

As far as his ego, I could be completely wrong, but he doesn't strike me as having a stubborn ego. Sure, the man has to have an ego like every one of us, but I get the feeling he'd do just about anything to obtain success. Again, I'm just spit-balling here and could be completely wrong. I'm only attached to the truth and willing to go wherever it takes me.

A hear a lot of chatter about how he is stubbornly holding onto the OC position but I don't know how we as fans can know that's truly the case. I say that because Jerry Jones has been harping for years about how he wants his head coach to also coordinate because Joe Gibbs said it gives the HC credibility with the players. Jerry has also shown open disdain for the "walk-around" coach which is what Garrett would be if he wasn't OC as well (I'm all for a full time OC and Garrett being a WA-coach, btw).

If this is true, then how do we know that Garrett doesn't want to hire an OC but Jerry is demanding Garrett call the plays ala Gibbs advice?

No one has been able to answer that question and I'd love to know what the truth is on this matter.

At the end of the day, I don't care who the coach is as long as he is successful and I want more than a one year wonder. I'm greedy, I want coach and a system that can sustain long-term competitiveness and lots of W's and a SB win every once in a while.

If that person is available and can work within the constraints of JJ's management style sign him and me up ASAP.

I just have a feeling that if Garrett gets run out of town, we'll be having the same conversation about the next coach in 3-4 years.

Rinse and repeat and all that implies

Sorry, I didn't see anything except the players didn't quit on him (neither did Pat Shurmur's) and Jerry sucks so there's no point in changing.

Were you saying the same thing about Dave Campo?

Sorry, but instead of celebrating someone who goes to Coach K hoping to learn how to coach, why not get someone who other young coaches come to learn from? This is the Dallas Freakin Cowboys. Can you imagine the Yankees hiring some young manager who goes .500 and their fans bragging about how he flew to Detroit hoping to pick up a nugget or two from Jim Leyland?

Unfortunately, the only thing we can hope for in all of this mess is that we get a great DC and great OC and they can work around Garrett's deficiencies as a HC.

If we can't get rid of him, the next best thing is that he is surrounded with good enough coordinators that can win in spite of his obvious shortcomings.

just answering your question and nope, I didn't say the same thing about the poodle

I fully agree that the Cowboys deserve the best coaching money can buy, but unless Garett turns out to be a genius we ain't ever gonna get that with Jerry at the helm. It'll just be another hamstrung guy for us to all complain about.
