Jason Garrett: I have a 'very positive feeling' about this Cowboys team
By Jon Machota
OXNARD, Calif. -- Emotions ran high during Tuesday's afternoon practice. Punches were never thrown but it was clearly the most physical practice of the 15 training camp sessions.
After Wednesday's morning practice -- the Cowboys' last padded practice in Oxnard -- head coach Jason Garrett said he thought the intensity was "outstanding."
Garrett said he doesn't know how a season is going to go just off what he sees at training camp, but he has a "very positive feeling" about what he's seen from this team.
"It's a privilege to wake up in the morning and coach these guys because of the approach they take," Garrett said. "That started before we're allowed to even coach players way back in the end of February and March when the guys are in our building working out on their own. It carried through OTAs and carried through minicamp. They came back in shape and they have worked hard in training camp.
"I have a very positive feeling about the approach that we're taking, the mindset our team has, the mentality they have. As a coach, that's all you can ask for. That's going to give you the best chance to have success."
Is his feeling more positive than last year at this time?
Garrett provided one of his most common responses: "I don't like to compare seasons."
