Obviously our secondary needs help in the worst way. Ranks dead last in the league.

With Byrd reportedly making his return to the field soon.. Bills have said they aren't actively trying to trade him but would listen to offers for any of their players..

Would you make a trade for him? What would you be willing to give up for him?

Surprisingly, both safeties are doing quite well. Better than expected. It's the CBs that are fucking up. But I put that on Jerry. You have a good DL, you don't need high-priced and high-drafted CBs.

Don't agree, at least not all the way. The Safeties are nowhere to be seen on long passes.

I agree. I think the Wilcox and Church are good underneath and at attacking the ball carriers but they're not very good with the deep ball.

I mean there's a reason we gave up what? three 400 yard games to QBs so far this season. Thats not good anyway you look at it. Especially in a cover 2 D.

I'd love to have Byrd on this team but doing a trade like this would make Jerry look bad, because of the Wilcox and Church additions. It wouldn't happen.

Except that a majority of the time we are in a 4-2-5. Church can play that underneath safety/third linebacker role.

That would seem to be his best role. I like him and he's a high effort guy who hits hard, but he is a liability down the field and doesn't give you much in terms of playing the ball downfield.

I think the 4-2-5 may be more and more incorporated as an overall defensive philosophy for teams. Too much passing in this league. Replace your third best linebacker with a physical CB or a S who can cover (better than your 3rd LB).

Regardless, Jairus Byrd is a true Free Safety with real ball skills. He should be considered by a team with playoff aspirations that's giving up 400 yards passing every week.

I've been saying that for awhile too.. The 4-2-5 or the 3-3-5 should be more used in this league with all this passing anymore.

Agreed on Byrd as well. IMO, we need a player like that.

Byrd is interesting, but honestly I wish they'd make a move for another DL. Whether its a starting DT or DE to play opp Ware, doesn't matter. We have a need now and in the coming years because the fact we've probably seen the last of Spencer and Ratliff, and might lose Hatcher after this season too.

It was tied up in those greaaaat contracts we gave Ratliff, Austin, Spencer, Livings, and Bernaturd.
