One of the most amazing things in Cowboys History was Tom Landry's 20 straight winning seasons from 1966 to 1985. According to the mentality some here have, those don't matter. Every year you win your divisions, it matters. Every year you make the playoffs, it matters. Even if you get knocked out in the first game there, it matters. Does it matter as much as a Super Bowl win? No.

But if the only thing that can make you happy and satisfied is a Super Bowl win then why have a favorite team? Why not simply enjoy the entire game and root for the front runners every single year? Be a fan of everyone and just enjoy the game. If that is all that matters what do you have to lose?

I'd rather be invested in something that I genuinely care about, good or bad, and have that investment matter to me. I want to have a better winning % than any NFL team. Right now we are 2nd to the Bears. I want to have more post season wins than any other team. Right now we're tied with the Steelers who do not look like they are getting in. Even one win will matter to me. I want the Cowboys to own more divisions crowns than any other NFL team. Right now we do, and I don't mind stretching the lead.

I want to be proud of every winning season like the 20 year stretch of Tom Landry. 9-7 matters to me. Not as much as 13-3, but it matters. We are trying to return to that consistent winning ways. Hell yes it matters.

To anyone it doesn't, how utterly sad. You're missing out on so much that is great about this team if it doesn't.

I don't see how you suggest that if all somebody cares about is winning the Super Bowl then they should switch teams every year necessary and pick the best team. Do you think there is joy and satisfaction in that?

I don't understand why some people can't enjoy the game. I am thrilled I don't think like many fans, and beyond thrilled I would never have to count on some of them in a fight of any kind. Had I ever played with or been coached by someone as spineless as some of our fans come across I might have tried to injure them on purpose. I have no respect for cowardice, and sadly our fans are great at it.

I expect losses in football. Sometimes even blowout ones. That's not the same as enjoying them. I am capable of moving on. Not my problem that as a society we've forgotten how to do that. Oh well, I hope everyone's fantasy teams win this week, and if not that I hope they tear someone up on Madden.

It's the real world. Simple as that.

I detect just a slight bit of sarcasm from Mr Jon

Once again, you seem to think I am saying the fans cause losses. I'm not that stupid. Losses are caused by execution on the football field or the lack of it. Whether you quit or follow the team blindly won't affect one single play.

Do you want the Eagles to win the NFC East? If your answer is no, then my comment wasn't aimed at you.

Are you afraid of playing the 1st place schedule next year if we finish first this year? If your answer is no, then my comment wasn't aimed at you.

But nowhere did I say the blame lies at the feet of the fans. Do I wish some of them had more intelligence and better attitudes? Of course. I think wishing they were dumber with worse attitudes is rather dumb. Hopefully that's not just me.

It's real simple. Don't show me the quit in you, and I couldn't possibly be talking about you. I wasn't trying to be classy. I was trying to be blunt. The idea that some fans would prefer to have the Eagles win the division is a crock of nonsense. I don't care if we lose in the 1st round. Give me another NFC East title. Give me 10 wins. Give me a single playoff win. Give me the 1st place schedule next year. Gladly.

I'll take all of that over the Eagles winning the Division. Every day of the week. Every minute of the day. Every second of those minutes. I will never quit on this team. Ever.

How I was raised.

1) Lower draft pick
2) Tougher first place schedule in 2014
3) Red returns as coach in all likelihood
4) Jerry feels vindicated

Nope, I can't see any downside to making the playoffs this year.

It's a process. You learn from adversity. When the players start executing under Garrett, and they will, we will be contenders. Book it. Put it in 2'' tall letters.

I was starting to think that Jon was Hostile or Hostile was Jon. Either way, it wasn't good.
