Eh, Irvin was the ultimate winner. He didn't need any hand holding to stay focused.

Yeah, keep reading. Ax wasn't a hand holder or babysitter. But he DID absorb many over-wrought over-emotional rants of Irvin's during games. SB27 no exception, and DID help him redirect frustration and stay focused.

Amen. Irvin, like Rice, wanted to be considered the best of all time and worked relentlessly toward that goal. Irvin was emotional, thats true, but he was never a phony and he backed it up with performance. Bryant was never in that class. He has always been content as a redzone jump ball specialist that never learned how to run routes or be dedicated enough to be a real top wideout.

Don’t forget, all you have to do is call Dez a pussy during warmups and his entire game is shot. He will be so worked up all game that he will play like shit all day

Dez did however lead the entire league in one category

Drops - with 12 of them. He has as many drops as Switzer, Hanna, and Swaim have total catches combined between the three of them. See the problem here?

When you have twice as many (12) drops as you have touchdowns (6) on the season it’s time to go

It's really ironic, because I used to accuse Dez of being a dropper, and by dbair's research I was proven to be wrong about that - and then immediately after that Dez proceeded to meet my expectations, shit the bed and pull a Terrell Owens and lead the league in drops!

Is there a way to find out how many of Daks INT’s came when targeting Dez? I bet 80% or higher. But I’d like to know the actual stat. I just don’t know where to find it

He was by far the most targeted player on our team, I suspect the number of picks is much higher with him as the target as well.

The % of targets picked for each player would be more telling I think.

Bryant has been grossly over rated for years. He had some good qualities but that time has passed. The sooner the FO gets over his jersey sales the better. He, and that disgusting contract, need to go and go yesterday. Bryant is a liability and I am not sure he hasn't been a curse from the beginning.

well let me clue you in... i did some research:

i went through all of dak's picks this past season.

week 2 loss @DEN
int #1 - talib (pick 6)
target = dez - endzone back shoulder throw, poor execution, talib had better position

int #2 - harris
target = dez - ball bounced off dez's hands

week 4 loss vs. LAR
int #3 - barron
target = N/A - pass was tipped from dline pressure, beasley/witten closest receivers.

week 5 loss vs. GB
int #4 - randall
target = twill - ball bounced off twill's hands

week 11 loss vs. PHI
int #5 - darby
target = dez - double coverage, bad pass thrown into coverage, forced

int #6 - jenkins
target = butler - redzone, forced pass into coverage

int #7 - mcleod
target = twill - hit twill in the hands again

week 12 loss vs. LAC
int #8 - king (pick 6)
target = beasley - route was dead, but beasley got beat by king for the ball coming back

int #9 - hayward
target = butler - dak threw into coverage a bit, diving int by hayward. hayward top rated corner this year, great play but not a good throw

week 15 win vs. OAK
int #10 - smith
target = dez

int #11 - smith
target = beasley

week 16 loss vs. SEA
int #12 - wright
target = dez - ball hit dez in the hands again

int #13 - coleman (pick 6)
target = zeke - bad overthrow but ball may have been tipped

dez also fumbled vs. seattle in this game

dak's ints by target
dez - 5 (mixed bag but most ints because ball is forced or dez dropped it)
beasley - 2
butler - 2
twill - 2 (both balls hit him in the hands)
zeke - 1
witten, switzer, brown, etc. - 0
no apparent target - 1

with how inaccurate dak has looked this season (and it has been ugly), i was surpised at how many picks he gave up because his receivers did not catch the balls.

4 picks drop dropped passes (at least)

and you know there were other drops that did not get picked off, but could have.

its kinda bullshit that you're paying these guys to make the catch and the ball is exactly where it needed to be, and they dropped it. maybe it helps explain dak's inaccuracy as the season progressed. i don't know. maybe kellen moore can figure it out.

Awesome, icup. I really appreciate stuff like this. You took the time and effort to get the facts and I admire that

It's not kinda, it IS bullshit. TWilly's got to fucking go too. Just too many drops.
maybe it helps explain dak's inaccuracy as the season progressed.
Might have developed trust issues with some of these guys. Might make him hesitant to throw to them, leading him to possibly worse decisions and/or unnecessary sacks.
