Married gay couples living in all U.S. states can file joint federal tax returns, even if local authorities don’t recognize their marriages, the Obama administration said today.

There are more than 130,000 married, same-sex couples in the U.S., according to estimates from the 2010 Census. For tax year 2013, they must use the married filing jointly or married filing separately status. They have the option to amend returns filed as long as three years ago and can seek refunds; they aren’t required to refile returns if they would pay more.

Just remove the joint tax returns for marriage and be done with it already, for goodness sakes this whole thing is just more and more of the same bullshit. Social issue over any real problems in this Country to the point that we've all just accepted unemployment this high and war is just a forever thing. Peace Prize my fucking ass...

Flat tax or Consumption Tax. Anything other than this mess we have now would be better.

Everyone else would have to pay if they owed taxes on a amended return.

Who would actually amend a tax return to pay more unless they fucked up their filing in the first place?

I dunno, I've never had to go back and change my stated income for a given tax period so maybe that's pretty common.
