Pretty obvious they think Kitna is probably done for the year now. They also said the move was made in part to block Chicago from getting him, indicating they now think a wildcard is at least possible.
They also mentioned a 3rd reason for claiming him. He was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent after the season and probably would have signed a considerable new deal elsewhere, yielding us a pretty high comp pick in 2013. I cant imagine the Cowboys run by Jerry from 94-02 would have even contemplating something like this.
