Nice hire, very highly regarded OL coach. Will bring some new ideas with him too I suspect.

Congrats to Hudson Houck on retiring. Great career overall and coached some of the best OL in NFL history at one time or another.

Yeah, it's about time the ol' bastard retired. The game has passed him by.

I knew two teams asking around last week about Bill Callahan, hearing he wanted out. Dallas got a great line technician, run game coach.

It's nice to know we might have a balanced attack once again. Now we just need to add more talent on the offensive line.

That would never happen.

He would cost a fortune.

It would be crazy though, in that fantasy I guess free becomes the left guard.

He fits well with what they're trying to do here and is much better than some of the other options.

Plus, if the FO was willing to overpay Nnamdi when we were in cap hell last offseason, why not pay this guy in a better cap situation?

I think Ferguson might be a bit overrated and will get over payed on his rep alone.

I don't know if he is a true elite LT, I want no part of paying his new contract.

Don't agree, D'Brick is the real deal, despite his horrible education.

we dont need him, Tyron Smith is moving to LT and I strongly suspect he's gonna be a better pro than Ferguson is

Apparently Callahan coached Nicks at Nebraska, and G is a far more pressing need than T is

Didn't say I wanted him, just that he's a legit LT.

What's funny is that last year when I was telling people we had a serious interest in Tyron, I was comparing him to Ferguson. Now here it is a year later and you ( I realize it wasn't you badmouthing Smith last year) are saying Tyron will be better than Ferguson.

I think he will be. He looks like he is going to be alot more physical than Ferguson, especially after a year or two in the weight room.

The other plus with Callahan is he's been a head coach before.

He can be the interim HC after we start 0-7 next year.

You were on he money with Smith, naturally, you've watched him more than us. I suspect you've watched alot more PAC 12 then us as well.:bow

Glad we have Smith. Add another blue chipper like DeCastro, and we are in business.

I bet Garrett will go to him as opposed to DeCamillas next time he wants input on whether to call a TO or not before his K attempts a big field goal again.

No Sparano then.

I think Callahan is a good hire. He did get Gruden's team to the Super Bowl in Switzer fashion, but he's also rebuilt the Jets oline, so I think he's more than just a one-hit wonder.

Fuck your comment I'm drooling over your SIG... Alba is one sexy ass broad!

Never said he was not a good above average LT but he is going to want top 3 money and I don't think he is at that level of a all around LT.

He is going to want about 12 to 14 million per.

Damien Woody lauds Bill Callahan

By Todd Archer

IRVING, Texas -- Damien Woody was an offensive lineman for Bill Callahan for three years with the New York Jets, and he can’t say enough good things about the Cowboys new offensive line coach.

And it sounds like Callahan can’t wait to get started.

“I talked to him yesterday,” said Woody, who is now an analyst for ESPN. “He was definitely excited. Just excited for the fact of that organization and the rich tradition the Cowboys have and the personnel on offense. He’s really excited about the personnel on offense, the personnel of the offensive line. He knows it’s a young group but it’s a talented group. He’s going to be a good fit for the Dallas Cowboys.”

Callahan is replacing Hudson Houck, who elected to retire earlier in the week. Callahan spent the last four seasons with the Jets after a four-year run at Nebraska.

“He’s a meticulous man,” Woody said. “He’s not going to leave any stone unturned. That’s the one thing about him. He’s meticulous in everything: the classroom, on the field. He’s a real stickler on technique. But the one thing I like about him is he listens to the players. He’s open. His whole thing is he’s not going to make players do something they’re not comfortable with. At the end of the day if the players feel like it worked better one way, he’ll listen.”

The Jets’ line had something called the “Breakfast Club,” and they would meet before the rest of the team would get in the building to start the day.

“We always had the longest meetings of probably any position group on the team because we just went over everything,” Woody said. “Every little detail we’d go over.”

With the Jets, Woody said Callahan worked man and zone blocking schemes.

“When I first got there, we were kind of like a power, just straight man on man blocking,” Woody said, “but as time wore on we incorporated the zone more into our blocking schemes. He’s versatile. We did both and were successful with both with the Jets. It doesn’t matter to him he knows how to get it done the way the offensive coordinator wants to get it done.”
