And there you have it.

I am happy for change, but Callahan is kind of sketchy.

The raiders players hated him. Tim brown told the ticket some stories about him in Oakland and he basically was trying to get fired..

Has been a Good line coach though.

No Sparano then.

I think Callahan is a good hire. He did get Gruden's team to the Super Bowl in Switzer fashion, but he's also rebuilt the Jets oline, so I think he's more than just a one-hit wonder.

He is a good line coach...

Tim brown hates his guts and told some crazy stories about him last year on the ticket.

Jets line has been better than ours that's for sure.

I love sparano. But I like the idea of some new voices evaluating talent here and coaching it.

He was on a staff with skip peete, so there is som familiarity there.

Together the two got some great seasons out of Charlie garner, who by the way is the guy the cowboys compared Felix to when they drafted him.

Hopefully running game gets a huge bump from this.

From a Jets' blog....

In the most stunning news of the night, ESPN is reporting that Bill Callahan will become the new offensive line coach of the Dallas Cowboys. This is pretty remarkable, as it was reported earlier that Callahan did not want to sign a new contract with the Jets. This is heartbreaking to those of us who wanted Callahan as the new offensive coordinator. It is no doubt a terrible loss for the Jets, for whom Callahan has been a rock. I suspect the Jets will try and get Tony Sparano to replace Callahan, but make no mistake about it. Unless there is a drastic change that we don't know about, the Jets offensive line will feel this next season. Ugh.

I wasn't even thinking of getting Callahan, I'm pleased. Hopefully we find a way to get Sparano in here too.

Garrett needs to let someone else call the plays, but we know that isn't happening.

William E. Callahan (born July 31, 1956) is the Offensive Line coach for the Dallas Cowboys. He was formerly the head coach of the Oakland Raiders for the 2002-2003 seasons and for the University of Nebraska for the 2004-2007 seasons.

He'd be a lot more tolerable if he weren't such a douchepony.

Quick look at new O-line coach Bill Callahan

January, 10, 2012
By Tim MacMahon

The addition of Bill Callahan to the Cowboys’ coaching staff will provides Jason Garrett an offensive assistant with valuable experience as a head coach and play-caller.

Callahan, who ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports will replace the retiring Hudson Houck as offensive coordinator, was the Oakland Raiders’ head coach from 2000-02 and also spent four seasons as the University of Nebraska’s head coach. He was 15-17 with the Raiders, who Callahan led to the Super Bowl in his first season as head coach, and 27-22 at Nebraska.

Callahan has been the Jets’ head coach since his stint at Nebraska. The Jets had an elite rushing attack in Callahan’s first three seasons, leading the NFL in rushing offense in 2009, but regressed badly this season, ranking 22nd in that category.

Callahan, who was the Raiders’ offensive coordinator before replacing Jon Gruden as the head coach, had offenses in Oakland that led the NFL in rushing (2000) and passing (2002).

I think Mortensen meant offensive line coach, not OC.

Like someone mentioned in this thread, I don't see Sparano coming here in any capacity now.

He'll be OC somewhere else.

I will splooge if D'Brick (UVA's greatest olineman...ever) comes with him.

That would never happen.

He would cost a fortune.

It would be crazy though, in that fantasy I guess free becomes the left guard.

Nice hire, very highly regarded OL coach. Will bring some new ideas with him too I suspect.

Congrats to Hudson Houck on retiring. Great career overall and coached some of the best OL in NFL history at one time or another.
