That is the way Jerry thinks. Exactly.

And it usually works.

And I don't ultimately believe It to be a sinister act, but this is a business. Every few weeks he talks bout something that will be different in order to keep the team in the headlines and for writers to pin their hopes of a turnaround to.

Mike Zimmer, Brian Stewart, Wade Phillips, Rob Ryan, Monte Kiffin, Tyshawn Garrett or whoever the next DC is it doesn't really matter. They'll all get fired or die on the job. The next one is always hailed as The savior

I think in one year where nothing really changed people actually pointed to a strength coach as being a difference maker.

I think if I didn't like talking to most of the people here I wouldn't know jack shit about the Cowboys until opening day.

They broke me.

I don't think it's all jaded adulthood. Other sports excite me If they have a direction or purpose.

Right now the cowboys are just running a money making business participating in a sports league.

I still get amped on the Caps.

They're working on breaking me. Because they are the hockey version of the Cowboys. Enigmatic superstar who puts up gaudy numbers and never wins with a likable team that's just never good enough.

I don't think it's sinister exactly... Not like a Donald Sterling or Jeff Loria who guts the team for profit.

And a lot of that talk from Jerry, I think he actually believes. I don't think he's out there lying as much as he's convinced himself it's true.

I do think Jerry tries to win as much as he can within his own terms, which is that he's the man. That's why he'll pay a lot for free agents, undrafted FA, etc. Too bad that little on his own terms thing kills us.

I still wonder if Jerry would ever do another Parcells if things got really bad. Good coaches would still love to have this job. But I'm afraid we're going to be just good enough for Jerry to believe that we're one good break away, and so nothing changes.

I'm becoming less of a fanatic and more of an informed fan. I keep track of all the movements, and all of that... but part of me is resigned to the fact that we'll never win a Super Bowl again so long as Jerry is alive. Unless we catch lightening in a bottle, that is.

Carlton Mitchell thinks you're a shitty informed fan. :mock

Seriously though, I'll never stop being a fan, but Jerry makes it hard sometimes. It is like Groundhog's Day sometimes.

Be in contention for most of the year, shit the bed when the season is on the line late in the year.

Off season rolls around, they make some cosmetic changes, we read stories about how this is the year that Lissemore/Crawford/Church/Ogletree/etc breakout, Jerry tweaks the coaching staff and the same thing happens all over again.

Sorry I don't want to be a team that gets lucky, squeaks into the playoffs and loses in round 1 or 2. I want a team that is a consistent competitor. Then when that core falls apart, suck for a year or two, rebuild and do it all over again.

That's pretty fucking hard to do. Pray that we build one winning team..good luck building multiple.

Not many franchises have consistently produced winners.

Let's take a sample back to 2001:

Ravens: Won 2 Super Bowls
Patriots: Won 3 Super Bowls, lost 2
Giants: Won 2 Super Bowls, lost 1
Steelers: Won 2 Super Bowls, lost 1
Colts: Won 1 Super Bowl, lost 1

Of the Super Bowls since 2001, that group above has either won or played in 12 of the 13.

Is it a pretty elite group? Yep, but ultimately that is what I'm looking for.

I'd put the Packers in there, too. Maybe they only won one, but they've been a top team for a few years now.

I used to think that way TE but not any more. He's a snake oil salesman who's knowingly selling a very flawed product. That's why he'll play up the OL, even though it obviously sucks, or his coaching staff or his draft picks, etc. Everything is a sales pitch to the dolts who continue to buy his brand. And I know that I'm making him money by just watching on Sunday's but it's the cross I bare for being a fan of this team.

I get what you guys are saying. I never let Jerry get me down. I have bot been able to stand the sight of the guy since jimmy left, when he signed sanders I just swore him off forever. I have gone on in time to include the rest of the family. I don't think much of any of them at this point. They are all salesmen. Don't care what they say.

I will never lose the enthusiasm or desire for the team, a new season or the league though.

Everytime it starts to slip like this years bears game we have a few games like the cincy, Philly and Pittsburgh stretch to completely allow me to hit the reset button.

I think we will see that kind of enthusiasm around this team this year. The schedule is great, the home games are going to be fantastic, the roster IMO is pretty good and I think we had a good draft and all those guys will play and make us better.

Hopefully we will stay healthy and the head coach will get better with better coaches around him. Rob Ryan sucked just like me had everywhere else he has been. If he cant parlay that saints offense scoring in the high 20's nearly every game into a good defense then he shouldn't be a coordinator.

And for the record, I hate the Tampa 2 defense, not really excited about it at all. Love rod marinelli though and I am very happy eberflus and Henderson stayed on.

I see no reason we can't win this division and get a home playoff game, it's all about health. Every year the teams predicted to do well at this time falter by the end of the summer, usually because of health. Look at sf today who lost Crabtree for the season with a ruptured Achilles already.
