I'm actually not being meta or parodying the zone.

I Find myself being more a more out of the loop idgaf about Brandon Moore or Eric clabo. I guess I'm where my dad is, Get me a beer and tell me what time the game is on. Part of my dream included Wilcox making a goal -line tackle so that's a good sign so Maybe I would be reinvigorated by a new gm, coach, or lets face it QB because its something to monitor and evaluate. But with this group it's a lot of waiting around with your thumb up each others asses. Reacting to things years too late and seeing nothing coming until it's already a problem. I know sometimes this place is like a who can be the biggest pessimist contest but Im like 95% sure this core won't win and they will fart around for 5 years then start a complete rebuild from mediocrity with no great pick or cap room to kick start it.

I think I'm stepping down from posting. I mean it.

I'll never stop being a fan. But my anticipation of upcoming seasons has certainly waned, and probably peaked when Parcells was in his first year. I will always watch games, but I never expect wins anymore. I also don't expect the GM to make a series of shrewd moves that will help this team. I hope we win and I hope we make good personnel moves, but I don't stew over losses or bullshit personnel moves.

Two things. First, we're older; I've seen enough of the good to know when it's really bad (and it's getting real bad). But we've probably got too many other worries and responsibilities in our life to worry about Jerry's kids. Second, almost 20 years of this will make you numb and accept the current state of affairs. I just don't buy Jerry's horseshit any more. I'll have a few beers, grab some wings and hope for the best.

The Cowboys have made me a fan in every sense of the word. I went from fanatical to just being a fan. I'm not too wrapped up in the success or failures of the club anymore.

I know what's going on and what will forever hold us back, unless we get lucky; which league-wide parity would do.

Naw, I'm with you. And yeah, being serious.

You know where I stand on things -- we aren't perfect talent-wise but I think our real problem is Garrett and to some degree Jerry. The clock is ticking on Romo, Ware, Witten, etc and Jerry doesn't care, he's not going to hire someone who could really win here. He's going to stick with his pet project so he can stay large and in charge just the way he likes it. Like you said, I think we might win just enough for nothing to change while these careers go down the drain and we're back looking at the next batch of Quincys and Hutches and Vinnys. A little facelift like Kiffin and Marinelli can only create so much faux excitement and then you're back to reality. It's so frustrating.

I still love the game as much as ever despite Goodell's best efforts, still watched every Cowboys game last year, and still think there's nothing close to football season and games on Sundays. But last year for the first time I started semi-keeping up with a few other teams of interest and more of the league overall. Never thought I'd say that, but there it is.

I'm becoming less of a fanatic and more of an informed fan. I keep track of all the movements, and all of that... but part of me is resigned to the fact that we'll never win a Super Bowl again so long as Jerry is alive. Unless we catch lightening in a bottle, that is.

I go into each season thinking we can win, but realistically when the rubber hits the road, we're not a well coached, well built, focused enough team capable of winning in the Decembers and Januarys of the football season.

The only thing keeping me from becoming a complete WGAS fan is the fact that Romo Dez and Ware make games fun. Once Romo retires and Jerry is resigned to trying to sell the fan base on another project I'll probably be the guy that might tune in for a quarter, then turn the game off when the Cowboys are down by 14 in the 2nd quarter as they struggle to finish to a 6-10 season year in and year out.

The only thing keeping me in tune with the team is when they bring in a fresh crop of players through the draft.

that reminds me that the coach reshuffling was such a joke. Makes me feel like most fans are considered pretty dumb and the team makes changes just so they have things to talk about in TC. Like they legitimately think "well we have to talk about something being different so the fans can eat it up".

What did we go 8-8 like 3 years in a row?

I really don't give a shit anymore when it comes to the Cowboys. I will never swap teams or anything like that, but the stupid mismanagement of the team has left me feeling hopeless as long as the team is owned by the Jones family. It pisses me off when a problem such as the oline goes unnoticed by the team for years when even a regular fan like myself can see the problem. I am tired of Jerry's ego and need for credit overriding the team. He has made the team that was considered the class of pro sports into a damn circus. This is one reason that the kool-aid drinking homer crowd gets on my nerves so bad. I don't know how many piss poor decisions that it will take for fans to wake up. I would rather see Risen Star as GM before anybody named Jones. Yeah, I am serious. There are many posters that could run the team at a higher level.

I was once a truly fanatical fan. For decades, I was.

I still feel somehow connected to the Cowboys. I think they will always be a part of my life, even though I don't particularly "like" them anymore.

It is difficult to describe or explain. I think it may be similar to how a long-time smoker, one who has smoked for 30 years and who continues to smoke, feels about cigarettes.

I don't like them, but it is as if they have become a part of who I am.

I genuinely enjoy watching SEC football and I watch regularly, regardless as to which particular SEC teams are playing. I'd even watch Kentucky and Missouri if they were the only SEC game on TV at the time.

I don't enjoy the NFL nearly as much. I watch all of the Cowboys games and follow them closely, but over the last couple of years I watch fewer and fewer NFL games that don't include the Cowboys. That's a big shift for me. For many years I watched every NFL game that I could.

I'm apathetic anymore. I'll watch the games but I have no illusions that this team will do anything special.

I used to attend about 5 games a season. I only plan on flying out to the SD game, and possibly the Broncos game, since my friend is a Bronco's fan. I hate that I give Jerry Jones money. I'll always be a Cowboys fan.

...and FUCK the people who say, "You people saying negative things about the Cowboys aren't true fans"...GODDAMN that's annoying as fuck.
