Ore. Silences Bakers Who Refused to Make Cake for Lesbians

Oregon Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian finalized a preliminary ruling today ordering Aaron and Melissa Klein, the bakers who refused to make a cake for a same-sex wedding, to pay $135,000 in emotional damages to the couple they denied service.

“This case is not about a wedding cake or a marriage,” Avakian wrote. “It is about a business’s refusal to serve someone because of their sexual orientation. Under Oregon law, that is illegal.”

In the ruling, Avakian placed an effective gag order on the Kleins, ordering them to “cease and desist” from speaking publicly about not wanting to bake cakes for same-sex weddings based on their Christian beliefs.

“This effectively strips us of all our First Amendment rights,” the Kleins, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, which has since closed, wrote on their Facebook page. “According to the state of Oregon we neither have freedom of religion or freedom of speech.”

I don't understand this. There already were many belief systems in place, before any of the founders and framers were ever born. Even today, fully half the world or more, has a different belief system.

I am sure though you are talking just the US, not the world. If so our belief system isn't and has never been a monolith.

Not that other belief systems don't exist nor can't exist but that diametrically opposed systems can not operate as the primary, or controlling system at the same time. You cannot have a government that operates based upon freedom also function as a contoling socialist entity. It WILL eventually have to be one or the other. We are at that point now. We can either have the law of the land based on founding principles of Freedom, individualism and the protection of the inherent rights of the people or we can have the paternalistic socialism of the progressive intelligentsia. One or the other will be how we organize our society, they cannot coexist indefinitely.

The media and the government are trying their best to start another civil war. You don't piss people off about their religion and heritage. The gay marriage legalization and the vendetta against the Rebel Flag are very touchy issues and for the first time in my life, I am hearing pure hatred for the US from it's own citizens. I used to be very patriotic , but I only have loyalty to my state, the South and my religion.

Saw a article earlier, many churches are now flying the Christian flag above the US flag. It started with one church, as a protest, and it's spreading.

Fringe terror groups are going to gain more popularity and some new ones are going to pop up. Homegrown terror attacks will soon follow. We will soon face the same kind of crap that all these other countries have to live with.
