Loved the Carr signing, Orton was a solid addition. I like Vickers.

My issue is with the "bernadette" signing. He got paid starter money. Not sure how he'll pan out here.

I'd like to see us sign Livings, Pool and Connor today. That would really boost my spirits.

Carr should be an improvement and is still relatively young. Overpaid but didn't have much choice unless we wanted to scrap the bottom or rely on a rookie.

Vickers is solid. We don't need a star at FB, just a good consistent blocker. Vickers should fit the bill perfectly. Not just some undrafted scrub or converted LB as an afterthought. If Fiametta could step in and help jump start the run game last year then Vickers ought to be even better.

Orton is an experienced QB and is young enough to fill the backup role effectively for several years. One of those situations where you hope he never has to play after preseason is over but if he does you should still have a reasonable chance each week.

Bernadette - shot in the dark looking for a viable body at guard. Not liking the reports we gave him 'starter money'. If so, then it goes without saying he needs to be a significant improvement over what we had last year. Not confident he will be though.

The Cowboys will not be taking Decastro in the first round with this signing. And instead of getting a great OG, they overpay for a backup. The Cowboys are just clueless on offensive lineman.

I expect the draft is going to piss some people off here as they skip over the biggest needs and draft more reaches and scrubs.

They've got the last couple of drafts right, by sticking to their board.

You dont even know if Decastro will be available when we pick at 14, why not wait till then before you start complaining?

Lastly, OL isnt the only area of need. Just draft the best players. You rarely go wrong by taking the BPA

I wanted to go B-/C+.

Love the Carr signing but the rest were all back-up caliber players. Good signings but we still have major holes in the starting line-up. Mackensey what's his name is far from the sure thing starter the Cowboys are making him out to be.

Cowboys were mediocre last year. I liked the Carr signing. He alone probably gives the Cowboys another win next season. The other moves were a bunch of joe-shmoes. You also lost some key players and have not filled those spots (yet). If someone asked me what i thought about what the Cowboys have done so far, i would say “they did ok”. I wouldn’t say “they were very solid!” lol

I think we used FA right. We filled glaring holes with bodies at least, and got the big guy we wanted at a position of need.

Frees us up to do whatever we want in the draft. Perfect execution, solid plan. B++

They're reaching for scrubs and letting solid players walk (Robinson, Fiametta). Why did a jag like Sensy get an extension again? Would be an F, but they did address backup QB and CB.

O-line is a glaring weakness and it will get Romo killed permanently one day. They continue to either just ignore, or try to fill it with these joke stopgaps that nobody else wants. With Nicks and Grubbs on the market, they pretty much showed complete ignorance about the glaring weaknesses there.

The Spencer situation is also worrisome. They really think that jackass is useful.

Basically, these moves represent what the franchise does with puppet head coaches. Take two steps forward, and two steps back over and over again. Those kinds of moves put you right around 8-8.

Also, I will flip my shit if they don't get DeCastro because of that Bernadette signing. Romo might as well demand a trade if that happens.

B.

Would have been an A+ but they brought in bottom-feeder lineman and it sounds like they paid him a good but more than anyone would hope. "Starters money" or whatever it was.

Probably. I already envision them taking a LB in round one and a TE in round two. Every few years we need to draft a 2nd round TE to replace a previous 2nd round TE.

Still wanna hold out hope for the draft. It's really hard to mess up a top 15 pick.

Fingers crossed.

By the way, Dan Connor signing would push me to a solid B.

Nate Livings signing, especially if longer than a 1 year deal, would drop it to a D. I'm not kidding, he is that awful. Pool is solid, I wanted better, but I recognize he's decent. Livings sucks and this team signing him is a giant red flag screaming we have no idea what we are doing.

C- to D+

Addressed one position that Needed addressing. Offensive line is still in need of a major upgrade at both guard positions.

They did replace Fiametta, liked that.

Looks like they may be interested in bringing in another backup guard. I swear, looking at some of these signings, it almost gives you the impression that Jerry and co think this is a winning team. They're stocking up on depth. I'm not sure who they think they already have for these guys to backup.

Hopefully they have a plan.

Also, I'm going to save myself some time for now on and just copy and paste UVA's comments as my own.

It does remind me of the 2009 Special Teams draft. "we're good, just need a little depth."

Pool is solid

Pool is about as solid as Hos's belly.

Sheik is onto something. This is eerily similar to the infamous Jerrah offseasons where he picked up special teams players cuz he figured we were set everywhere else.

The starting 22 has major issues, and we're tweaking positions 30-60 right now.

But you'd have to admit Pool is better than Elam, however small a margin that is, he is better. Plus, it's only a 1-year deal. I would have hated it if it was a 3-year deal.

Orton is better than Kitna (and McGee) so upgrade there.

Vickers is equal to or better than Fiametta, especially if the mystery illness is ongoing.

Carr is a giant upgrade over Newman.

Bennett, even though we hated him, is a downgrade.

Robinson to the unknown (Andre Holmes/Raymond Radway) is a downgrade.

Don't know what to make of Mackenzy Bernedeau. He is an upgrade over Bill Nagy but not sure if he's worth "starters money".

You aren't wrong but technically, we have upgraded a few spots. With the Salary Cap punishment, the last 2 days signings was more than I expected. Connor helps that if we land him.

Or, he didn't want to pay out 7 mil a year for an offensive guard. I know we've had our bad voodoo choosing Olinemen lately (jury still out on Arkin and Nagy), but OG shouldn't be that hard to get.

Free agency should be about stop-gap players anyways, and occasionaly an impact player. The draft is where we need to earn high marks.
