For someone who is such a proponent of always taking BPA, it's strange that you keep banging on the Newman selection.
It was widely noted that Newman was the #1 rated player on several teams boards going into that draft. Cincinatti even considered taking him #1 overall.
Rookie contracts make it prohibitive to take a CB #1 overall though. Almost always has to go to a QB.
If we're at #9, and Peterson or Prince are the BPA, then we take them.
And if a rookie wage scale is in place in the new CBA, then rest assured Peterson will get serious consideration for the #1 selection.
