Gosselin: I can see Cowboys QB Tony Romo playing all 16 games this year if this happens
By Rick Gosselin

Rick Gosselin recently held a chat to talk all things D-FW sports. Here are some highlights:

Question: Do you see Romo playing in all 16 games this season? The O-Line and Elliott looks like it'll give Tony a chance to play in all of them this year

Gosselin: The goal certainly is for him to play 16 games. But he's 36 this season, not 26. Every time he gets hit, the Dallas sideline will be holding its breath. The more the Cowboys run the ball, the better the chance for his survival. The Cowboys took 100 passes off his plate in 2014 and he won his only NFL passing title and the Cowboys finished 12-4. I've always said, the less Romo throws, the more I like him. If Elliott can give this offense what DeMarco Murray provided in 2014, I can see Romo playing all 16 games.

Question: Saw you guys did a whole bunch of best of Cowboys all time lists. Who would you say is the greatest Cowboy of all time???

Gosselin: The most important position on the field is quarterback. That said, I'd cast my vote for Staubach as the greatest Cowboy of all time. Bob Lilly is likely the most talented player ever drafted by the Cowboys and played to the level of his talent.

Well if he can't play I just saw that the Rams released Foles

Please lord don't sign him

If Romo goes down again I'd rather throw Dak to the wolves and watch the ship sink than put the idjit midget in there with the hopes of him winning a game

Just call the season what it is at that point

Here's what I think will happen: Romo will play all 16 games and have a similar season to 2014. The defense, along with our retarded coach, will lose us games. Romo, like always, will shoulder the blame, thus continuing the "Romo is a choker" narrative. He and Witten should have demanded trades after 2010.

Fuck you, Garrett.

I'd love to see him healthy for all 16 games, but I seriously doubt it happens.

If he does stay healthy along with most of the other key guys, having a season similar to 2014 is definitely not out of the question. Elliott is more talented than Murray was (and isn't a fumbler) and the OL very well could be better overall. The defense is obviously a huge question mark, but they could duplicate or exceed what they did in 2014 too. Bailey is money as a kicker and a huge benefit for us in close games.

We were last in turnovers last season. What were we in 2014? Top 5?

We will not have that kind of turnaround especially with the shit D line and all the suspensions

#2 in the league in 2014. Tied the 1980something Colts for fewest defensive turnovers in a season (I believe).

I don't care about the Rolando McClain suspension. Despite all their crowing of his importance, he was terrible last yr and like a couple others guys (Barry Church, JJ Wilcox) just missed a ton of tackles.

Losing Lawrence for 4 games will definitely hurt and Gregory is potentially a significant loss, but Lawrence WILL be back and he's a pretty good player. Certainly better than any DE we had on the 2014 team. Crawford and Thornton are a step up from Crawford/Hayden in 2014. Sean Lee missed that entire yr. Byron Jones could be a significant upgrade at FS over anything we've had out there for awhile.

They don't have to get to 2nd in the league in turnovers to be decent enough for us to win games. They just cant be at the very bottom of the league either.

Shockingly, the 1982 0-8-1 Colts, one of the worst teams of all time, only needed 9 games to generate more turnovers than the 2015 Cowboys did in 16 games. The Cowboys last year tied the Texans from a few years ago for all time worst turnover generation.

This year's defense may just break that record, and own it by themselves. The lack of sacks record is do-able as well in my opinion.

I think there's a good chance Romo doesn't make it out of the first 4 games healthy.

Assuming the D-line is as bad as everyone expects and the rest of the D follows suit, teams should be able to score at will forcing Romo, yet again, to carry the team and win games in a shoot out, exposing him to more hits and the inevitable injury in the process.

No way Zeke lives up to the expectations people are already heaping on his head this season

No shit, moron. That's the goal of every team, every year for their starting QB.

Unless he gets hurt I don't see how that happens. This OL and the offensive players around him are too good. He's more talented than Murray was and a lot more talented than McFadden is now, and look what they did here.

He'll get at least 1200-1400 yds and probably a 12-15 tds

Hasn't been a fumbler. He has zero NFL carries.

Yeah he carried it a shit ton in college, what happened there? Did he fumble any?

Mr "Todd Gurley is a fumbler but Melvin Gordon isn't!!!"

All running backs fumble. Our former bellwether Murray wasn't known as a fumbler in college either.

All this sunshine pumping over Elliot is getting kind of silly. First of all you don't and can't know he'll get the carries, just like you can't possibly know how his ball security will stand up against experienced NFL thieves. You said he is not a fumbler, I corrected that to "hasn't been" a fumbler, and you wet your homer panties.

He wont get the carries? WTF man? Quit being a damn stooge. Even the Cowboys arnt dumb enough to draft a RB with the 4th pick overall and then hardly use him. He's gonna get a ton of touches. He takes care of the football and has no history of fumbling despite an extremely heavy college workload. Odds are he isn't going to turn into a fumbler now.

Nobody ever said that.

Do I have to go back and get your fucking own quotes again? We've already been through this shit here, YOU DID POST THAT. You argued with a lot of us over it until someone (not naming any names) actually posted the damn numbers for you to see.

hope you're right but it seems a lot to expect from a rookie

plus I'm jaded from being told so many times that insert name here:___________ was gonna crush it and nothing close to that occurs and it feels like thats happening again with Zeke but now the entire offense and defense is riding on him, seems ridiculous to me but I'm admittedly jaded

My main concern on Gurley was that great big scar on his knee, not fumbling. And yes please do find that exact quote.

RBBC. They've consistently been saying that. You really think they're going to load their rookie with over 300 carries? You really think they learned one fucking thing from the 2014 experience? This is Jerry and Jason, and of course I know when Jason first got this job you were gushing about how great he was going to be. You still have that same man crush apparently.

Oh good grief man. You posted it multiple times. It was only after I posted that draft info about fumble frequency for all college RB's in the draft that yr that you admitted you were wrong.

And now here you are again, saying you didn't say it. You said Gurley was a fumbler and didn't take care of the ball well. You said Gordon was better than he was at that. The exact opposite was true.

Either 1) you have the worst fucking memory ever 2) you are just doing this to yank chains or
