So as I'm driving to work today, the NFL's new "Vice President for Social Responsibility" was being interviewed.

Vice President for Social Responsibility?!?!?!?

:lol Bureaucracy in entertainment. It's getting as bad as our government.
Maybe the commish should send a spokesman to press conferences from now on. Or at least read from a teleprompter.

I voted go and it has nothing to do with Ray Rice or other personal misconduct issues. It's the rest of his crappy football related decisions I have an issue with.

He does suck, but now there's the dilemma of wanting him gone, because he sucks and hoping he's not another victim of the pansy police killing another career through political correct-ness.

That's a valid concern, but I think he's clearly a victim of his own miscalculations and hubris.

If Goodell wanted the NFL to be America's Moral Police (a dumb move IMO), he could have done it much better.

It was pretty dumb for him to set himself up as the judge, jury, and executioner. If he had established a committee to determine culpability and penalties, he'd be much better off personally now.

But no, instead he was on an ego trip. He demanded total control and so now it is his baby. Rightly so, I think. He decided to put himself in charge of moral justice. He should have known that he couldn't win at that game.

He should go. And btw, I'm a guy who thinks if they are out of jail let them play, but he asked for this when he decided he would be the sole arbiter of NFL justice. So he didn't see the tape, huh? A cop says he sent it. A reporter listened to a vm from an NFL office phone claiming to have received and viewed the tape, yet he says nobody got it and or viewed it. If only there were a previous case on the record books that involved video that he didn't want getting out. I wonder if maybe at any point in time he had possession of video that he attempted to cover up. Maybe a video that showed an NFL team taping hand signals and defensive plays that was requested by a Senator so the Commissioner destroyed the tapes. If only something like that had happened in the past, then perhaps the sports media might question his claims that he didn't see the tape.

Of course, it has happened. You have a cop claiming he sent it, a call from an NFL phone saying it was received, and a commissioner that has a history of covering up video evidence, yet the sports talking heads doubt that he saw the tape. I would bet that he did. He assumed that since he had to twist the cops arms so hard they wouldn't give it to anyone else. And of course, the Casino wouldn't want to have the reputation of releasing video of wealthy celebrities in compromising situations, so he figured it wouldn't get out. So, like spygate, watch the video then destroy it and slap your buddy (Kraft then, Rice now) on the wrist and move along. No harm, no foul. Unless, of course, the casino shuts down and one of it's ex employees decides they want to hit a jackpot of their own.

Yeah, run him out of there. Not because he slapped Rice on the wrist. I don't care if he suspended him at all. He should be gone because he has a history of going easy on his buddies and sticking it to those he isn't tight with. Ain't that so, Saints fan? They made some mistakes too, but they didn't get a do over. No second chance to change their approach once the public showed outrage. He shouldn't get that chance either.

That pretty much sums it up.

I forget who it was that tweeted right after his speech, but it was some player, saying that his speech sounded a lot like what they say when they go to see him just before being suspended.

Fuck him.
