We're using the bottom roster spots to fill out the team based off of injury needs, knowing these players will likely be available if we want to put them back on the squad, and because we're not worried about finding a comparable player if they go elsewhere. Plus, it lights a fire under everybody on the bubble, every week.

Much better than just setting the roster and forgetting it for 17 weeks. But by all means, bitch about #54.

This.

Yes, but did they need to pay a guaranteed veteran salary to feel better about it?

I know, not my money. It just doesn't seem to be a smart transaction overall.

Yeah, the money is puzzling. But it won't hurt us going forward. We don't need that space for this year, and it will be off the books for next year. Jerry hurt nothing but his own bank acct. with this.

Well, not only that, but the guy we released would've gotten the guaranteed salary if he had stayed. Not he doesn't have that guarantee.

Odds are that Fiametta doesn't remain on the roster all year either.
