I wish I could watch it on my phone.

This tidbit made my day. I have 3 roofs open and the 2 that are near complete are the wrong colors. My supplier mixed up the colors on the 2.

I can't even be pissed right now.

You should've verified the colors prior to laying the roof.

That's what a college graduate would've done.

I want to see the chat transcript, because there was one time Jerry was addressing a question about something and started talking about "Jerry and Stephen will be talking about those things" (paraphrasing)

Almost sounded like Jerry was ceding alot of stuff to Stephen.

Why don't you find out at your precious Cowboyszone?

Now, will Jerry allow Jason to pick his own staff and back off?

If not we will continue to struggle as an organization.

Jones has so much respect for Garrett that he stressed the new coach will make the final call on who is on the coaching staff and indicated there will not be a player on the 53-man roster he doesn't approve of.

"Jason will have the final say on any person that leaves the coaching staff or comes to the coaching staff," Jones said. "There won't be a player on this team that Jason does not want on the team."

Take this for what it's worth but...

A previous relationship that made a comfort level stronger and his work during the second half of the 2010 season told the Joneses they needed to keep Garrett.

The Cowboys felt rushed in some ways to get a deal done with Garrett. Jerry Jones said several teams contacted him for permission to speak with Garrett about vacant coaching openings. Jones wouldn't identify those teams but realized he needed to move quickly.

"I was getting calls from other clubs wanting to know if they could interview him for head coach, just to let you know" Jones said. "From significant ones ... the ones you're reading about right now. So I know what a top-flight coach we've got here."

Because Garrett will not be hiring his own staff. Jerry has said as much.

He did?

"Jason will have the final say on any person that leaves the coaching staff or comes to the coaching staff," Jones said. "There won't be a player on this team that Jason does not want on the team."

He did:

"The answer is, when you say decision power, that is certainly something that Jason needs to have input in,”" said Jones, who elaborated by adding that Garrett had influence over several offensive assistants already on staff.

Jerry Jones takes over podium to announce Jason Garrett has full control

One of the most awkward and illuminating moments occurred simultaneously at the news conference Thursday when Jason Garrett was officially named the Cowboys' eighth head coach. That's when owner general manager Jerry Jones interrupted Garrett's dialogue with the media at Cowboys Stadium to make a point.

"Jason will have the final say on any person that leaves the coaching staff and comes to the coaching staff," he said before adding, "There won't be a player on this team that Jason does not want on the team."

For years, it has been assumed the Jones had control over every personnel decision with the team. Outside the organization, he has long been viewed as a meddlesome owner who has limited the head coach's scope of influence. Jones is aware of that perception, which prompted him to assure the fans that he will defer to Garrett as he assembles a coaching staff and tinkers with the roster.

"I wanted to make sure fans knew the extent of his power," Jones said. "You know that I am criticized for making decisions in areas fans would like for coaches to make."

When it was suggested Thursday that Jones acquired receiver Terrell Owens in 2006 without former coach Bill Parcells' approval, Jones' smile faded.

"Bill and I both agreed he ought to be on the team," Jones said.

Five years after that move was made, Garrett said he welcomes the autonomy that Jones has provided him, adding that "it's important to have guys you feel very good about coaching your football team and obviously guys you feel very good about playing for your football team."

On Monday, Garrett said it was his decision to promote Paul Pasqualoni to defensive coordinator on Nov. 8, the day Wade Phillips was fired. He said he will continue to consult with Jones, who expressed that he is receptive to Garrett's input and has faith he can execute a plan that will yield better results for the Cowboys.

"The thing I want you to understand is how much I value his judgment," Jones said. "I happen to buy into how he maps out his thought process."

Minutes later, Jones smiled and said cryptically, "But we all know an owner can change his mind."

Finally sat down and watched the presser this morning.

Jason picking his own coaching staff is huge, it's pathetic that it is such a step in the right direction 20+ years later. A GM should never put a coaching staff together unless that GM happens to be the head coach also.

On the players, that was my main concern. Jerry says there won't be a player on the team that Jason doesn't want. I would have liked to hear him say Jason is picking his players too.

I'm skeptical but hopeful that this is a start in the process of Jerry weeding himself out.

As an aside, Stephen Jones is a fat ass. I've only ever seen him head on, his side profile tells a much different story.

He's gained a lot of weight over the last few years.

Fat lazy piece of shat with a silver spoon in his mouth.
