it's irrelevant either way i was just trying to illustrate that for our slower posters

and i totally agree pep all this stuff that is trickling out is PD damage control

the sad thing is that people fall for it

the sadder thing is why they fall for it

From what I heard the officer knew nothing about the robbery.

The robbery is apparently not relevant to why he was stopped. However, it could be relevant to why the suspect reacted in the way he did. Common sense tells us that the officer didn't shoot Brown for not moving out of the street fast enough.

Exactly. The kid knew he had just robbed a store and had every reason to believe the cop was there to apprehend him.

If Brown being in the middle of the road is the only reason why he approached Brown, he shouldn't have even had to leave his car. Do we think that the cop just politely asked them to move off the road?

he would have if they didn't obey his orders. we don't even have the cop's version of events, so all of this is speculation.

You're assuming that Brown complied with the officer. Even some of the supposed "witnesses" say that he ran at first away from the cop then "doubled back" toward him. Who the hell knows. But like someone said before... the image of a schoolboy sitting on a park bench eating an ice cream is out the window. This kid was trouble and he put himself in a situation where it went wildly wrong. Is the cop in the right? I'm not saying he is. But I'm not foolish enough to think this kid was purely a victim of circumstance.

so i've grown up my whole life distrusting the police because they've earned it with shit like this and i'm just supposed to acquiesce to their abuse of authority anytime they see fit to hassle me for no fucking reason and if not they will just shoot me is that about right captain personal liberty or do you have another idea

Rants about profiling.

Admits to profiling.

We can still discuss speculation, it's ok.

Even after all the mental gymnastics are done trying to justify what the cop did, at the end, he was armed, had the gun in his hand, and aimed it at an unarmed person. The cop shot him 6 times. How can anyone justify that?

As officers arrived, the suspect turned towards the officers and started to walk towards them clutching his waistband. He then pulled out a knife ... and told the officers, 'Shoot me now. Kill me now,'" the chief said

Well, he asked for it. Literally.

Seriously though, do these police not have tazers? This is prime tazing material here.

Sounds like the circumstances are exactly what he was a victim of... You don't have to be a schoolboy eating ice cream to avoid being shot. Even if the cop knew about the robbery and the kid tried to gain possession of the gun, it doesn't mean he deserved to get shot 6 times.

What happened to cops shooting to wound and not kill?

This guy was impervious to voltage. Marvel should make a movie about him.

It's the theory of self-defense run amok.

Dude probably had a switchblade. He was 4 feet away from them... even if you have your gun drawn and not your taser, shoot the guy in the leg.
