still waiting for the "wheeling and dealing"
He doesn't mind paying his own guys because that makes him look like the genius drafting/personnel man he thinks he is.I agree on the first part, but the second part isn't entirely true. They will pay to keep their own guys so I don't think he's cheap.

You can not wheel and deal when you take a vacation on the first week of free agency.
Jerry NFL philosophy is get them cheap then over pay on the next contract. See everyone he has drafted or signed as a free agent. The cowboys have 2 one legged linebackers, a one shoulder DT, a underweight midget WR that quit during his rookie training camp, and a street ball player WR all picked up cheap then over paid for their actual worth.
Our front office is stupid, but going to the Bahamas in 2018 doesn't prevent them from getting anything done. It's funny but with email, technology etc etc they can get anything done they wanted to remotely.
us not signing anybody had zero to do with a "vacation"
OK really? What CEO you know goes on vacation the day they release corporate earnings? Only the ones that stole the money and went off to the Bahamas. That is Jerry Jones takes the money and goes off to the Bahamas because he has his stadium and he does not need Super Bowls anymore.
Remember Jones just wants the Cowboys to "stay relevant". This is not the quote of a NFL General Manager to "stay relevant". Its the quote of a multi billionaire owner that stole the money from the franchise and went to the Bahamas.
Terrific post. Feel free to post at will.
Might be a hopeful sign he is stepping back in greater increments and letting Stevie-Boy handle more things.OK, so now we have idiots that think Jones MIA from the team HQ is a bad thing.
Hey idiots, you should be GLAD Jones is not around there.
Yes Sir. Eromeopolk doing God's work in a couple of different threads. There's no excusing the GM being in the Bahamas at such a critical time in the off-season. If you were the owner and your GM went off on vacation at the start of FA, he wouldn't be employed long.
They already know the free agents they have an interest in, and McClay, the coaches, Steven etc.. are still developing their draft board, so how is taking a few days off hurting. Besides, this is a modern world. There literally is no business that can't be done remotely other than shake a man's hand.

When you're livelihood depends on success or failure, you don't take a vacation on one of the most important days in your profession. It's really not a hard concept. Can you tell me if another NFL GM took a vacation the first day of FA? I'll wait.
It's OK to be critical of Jerry every once in a while. This situation is just not the norm for those folks who are employed by others where success matters.
The problem is that we as fans and the rest of the NFL judge success by wins/losses and Super Bowl rings. Jeruh judges his success by his pocketbook. Since the fan base has made Jeruh the most profitable sports franchise in history while he fielded a subpar product on the field he has ZERO incentive to change the way he does business. In his own mind he already won!
