Glover was just a good player so he would do well anywhere. He was not great for the scheme and worse he really wasn't what they needed at the time. It's just one of many times, including this past draft, that the defense was lacking players X, Y, and Z and somehow, passing on those players, Jerry and Co enthusiastically picked players A, B, and C who we already had version of already.

We played in the 4-3 the first few seasons he was here. He was in the right position, just didn't make a ton of sacks like he did in New Orleans because Zimmer was stupid.

4-3 what? That's not a scheme by itself. He was undersized for the role that Zimmer had him in, if that's what you mean. A lot like the way Crawford is. Who played the other DT next to Glover?

we drafted him to replace Harvey Martin, and while he wasn't a terror off the edge like Harvey, he was a steady, reliable guy for many many years. like Bill Bates, I'm glad he stuck around long enough to see the glory days. I still vividly remember his INT for a TD vs the Giants in '85 that swung the momentum and led to an NFCE title.

Jeffcoat posted double digit sacks five times in his career, and was solid his whole time in Dallas.

And he was the only Cowboy in history besides Lilly to record five sacks in one game.

He was a perfect fit for the scheme. They were beaming ear to ear when they signed him and Zimmer/Campo both spoke glowingly about how much better the defense would be after getting him.
