Another complete shitshow by the worst run franchise in sports. Is anyone really surprised? I guess the only surprises should be 1) We had the ball two times to start the game and went right down field on both 2) The Eagles had back to back 3 and outs to start the game and 3) The game was 7-7 at the end of the 1st quarter.
After that, another abysmal performance in every way possible. Outscored 34-0 the rest of the game. The Eagles had 6 plays for 9 yds in the 1st quarter. We had the ball essentially the entire 1st quarter and the Eagles ended the game with a 5 minute adv in TOP. 4 brutal turnovers. Double the amount of penalties for the other team (8 to 4), missed tackles galore and a general lack of effort at all on defense. Completely incompetent game day roster management (again).
1) No team mismanages their game day roster more than the Cowboys, and it happens week after week after week. Why the fuck at this point in the season would you have Chuma Edoga getting ANY snaps ahead of Tyler Guyton? (and Asim Richards). Why play Cooper Rush at QB? Carlos Watkins instead of recently reacquired rookie draft pick Justin Rogers? Malik Hooker still on the field? ZEKE FUCKING ELLIOTT??? It's just sickening.
2) Cooper Rush did his best Dak Prescott impression yesterday, I'm sure 4 watched and thought "way to go buddy that's exactly how I taught you!". Throws an awful pick 6 into double coverage. Nearly threw another pick on a deflected at LOS ball (might have also been a TD for them had guy simply caught it) then threw an end of half 3rd down and 6 pick into TRIPLE COVERAGE, two other Cowboys were WIDE OPEN and he never looked at them. Now 24-7 after that and the QB playing like complete trash, and who plays almost all the 2nd half? The same lousy fucking QB. Has Jonathan Mingo wide open on a 3rd and 1 play call for what should have been a 30-40 yd gain (and more likely a TD) but grossly misfired again. Horrific QB play and wasn't benched until basically 2 mins left in the game.
3) Good year for Dowdle overall as he now has a 1000+ yds and is averaging an impressive 4.7yds per carry. Catches the ball well, breaks tackles and runs hard. But he lost another bad fumble yesterday, this one at around the Eagles 10 yd line. His longest run for the season is only 27 yds as well, and the one thing he definitely lacks is any breakaway play type ability. There's been a number of runs this year that should have been 30-40yd plays (or more) but he doesn't have that gear. He's a free agent and would be deserving of a fair contract extension, but he also shouldn't be the team's primary starter going forward. They need someone more dynamic, someone who can make some big plays and put points on the board.
4) Jonathan Mingo hasn't done much of anything since we got him, but after watching him yesterday against the Eagles impressive DB's I actually have some hope for him. He was open several times (incl the noted deep ball above) and definitely looks like he has some long speed. He's worth watching next yr in camp and preseason. And very quietly Jalen Tolbert has had a decent season, now has 45 catches and a team leading 7 TD's. Rookie Ryan Flournoy is definitely interesting as well. WR group is not completely devoid of hope.
5) I still really like Jake Ferguson and the down yr (compared to last yr) isn't all on him. He's been dinged up some and plays with complete shit at QB. But he lost another bad fumble yesterday (now 4 fumbles with 2 lost for the season), that's definitely on him. Has to eliminate that for 2025. Will be interesting to see if Schoonmaker makes any type of move on him for playing time and passing game usage next yr.
6) Great work by Zimmer yesterday, making 2nd and 3rd string QB's completely at ease and carving up the Cowboys defense like it was nothing. No sacks, no forced turnovers, only ONE QB knockdown (other than the stupid roughing the passer on Odiggy). Horrendous job on run defense and just a general lack of effort by all of them after the first quarter. GROZ!
7) Fuck you McCarthy. Trying a 61 yd FG when you team is down 41-7 in the 4th qtr. That alone should be enough to ensure your fat stupid ass doesn't have a job here after next Sunday.
8) Really hoping for another shitstomping like last night next week. Fortunately the Redskins need to win to avoid playing at Philly in the WC round, so hopefully they will be sky high and our shit effort from yesterday will continue. I also want whatever Cowboys crowd that actually shows to give Jones and McCarthy the B'Ness for 60 mins, they whole heartedly deserve it. They should make it so bad on Jerry & Spawn that they leave the premises during the game.
This team sucks dick in just about every way. They have numerous players that are much more hatable than likable, in addition to a clown coaching staff and the worst ownership/GM in the league. It's now almost 3 decades of complete futility when it comes to making a legitimate postseason run and they have truly become the laughingstock of all the NFL, if not all of sports. Guys like Staubach, Aikman, Irvin and other great winners from our history have to watch this in disgust. The scene in Washington last night should mean something to Jones, as that entire crowd and franchise was completely re-energized by what a new ownership that wants to run a team the right way can do. Those fans were chanting the OWNERS NAME in celebration, not in disgust. And that's all anyone who is a fan of this sorry team will do with Jerry, hate his stupid ass and bash him.
