McGee holds on to the ball to long he does not look natural in the pocket.

If the 1st read is not there he looks lost.

He didnt have much of a pocket on many snaps. They showed a stat at one point where he had been knocked down on soemthing like 16 of 28 attempts, which is awful. As a comparison, our defense probably hasnt knocked the QB down 16 times in the past 4 or 5 games combined.

and dbair, I like how you notice how horrible Elam is, but forget to mention that Sensabaugh is terrible in games too. You constantly glance over that fact when he's been the protagonist on some very bad plays in the same games.

I dont think Sensabaugh is that good either, but he was playing at an adequate level before he had the foot injury against Washington a few weeks ago, so I'm giving him more of a pass. Elam had more knowledge of the defense than anyone else on the roster, hasnt been hurt and has played virtually every snap, and his numbers are among the worst in the league for a starting FS.

How do we know Elam sucks? Just because you don’t see him, doesn’t mean he not doing what is being asked of him. I would think evaluating safety play is the trickiest because you don’t always know their assignment.

You sound like Theo from CZ now, when he was constantly defending Ken Hamlin's awful play.

Find me some other safeties around the league that have started every game and played virtually every snap, and dont have a single pass defensed this year. That absolutely fucking pathetic for an NFL team. He's terrible in coverage.

Strangely, I agree with this write up, my only gripe would be the way you came down on Elam.

It may not be saying much, but he's been a lot better than anything we've had at fs in years, IMO. It seems like every year for the last 5 or 6 years, we've seen our safeties get a lot of camera time during games. Not so much this year.

I dont know what Elam you are watching, but the guy is never in position to make a play. He's the center fielder on a defense that he knows better than anyone else, annd he hasnt dont shit. He blows.

Zero ints is bad enough, but zero PASSED DEFENSED? Again, go find another safety (particularly a FS) thats played in/started every game and doesnt make a single play for the whole yr against the pass.

dbair.. both safeties are awful. I get the sense that since Jerry re-upped Sensabaugh he gets a pass from you.

By the way, Elam is the strong safety, Sensabaugh is at free safety.

Nope, never been a big fan of Sensabaugh, but I do think he was playing better this year until he got hurt vs Washington.

I see it listed that way on the depth chart of DC.com, but when we signed him all the stuff said he was going to be the FS and Sensabaugh would play SS. I also read stuff about how it didnt really matter what they were called as they were considered interchangable.

Regardless, 0 picks and 0 passes defensed is awful for a DB that hasnt missed hardly any (if any) snaps all year. You'd think he'd have a few PD's by accident.
