you knew it was coming.

I didn't. Thought it would've been Packers or Saints.

I'm glad we get a trip to NY out of the way, before the weather becomes a factor.

And I love having an extra 3 days to prepare for our week 2 opponent.

Bad news for Cowboys: As @NFLfootballinfo points out, defending Super-Bowl champ is 8-0 hosting kickoff game since games started in 2004.

yeah i like it. NFL saw an opportunity to combine most-watched team with biggest market on their biggest day. RATINGS BONANZA.

NBC was guaranteed boffo ratings anyway, mainly because it's the only game on at that time and has the added appeal of being the season opener. The "captive audience" angle is the reason why Dallas usually play less glamorous teams on Thanksgiving. That said, I'd much rather play there in WK1 than 15 or 16.

That's the one saving grace....We will be 0-1 but at least it will be an div. away game.

I was just listening to the fan and they said nbc had the choice of who was to open in ny and they wanted Dallas.

Its ridiculous, I have been here for almost ten years and been to two home openers, 03 and 07. every year we are the shiny object.

It zaps the excitement of the start of the season. In the recent past we have played are final preseason games on the road and then open on the road creating like 3 or 4 weeks where there are no games at the stadium.

At least it's a Wednesday. Maybe that's one saving grace. NBC and Sunday night football isn't very kind to the Cowboys. What's the losing streak up to in prime-time games on NBC? 5-6 losses in a row with 2-3 of those in demoralizing fashion.
