Columnist Tim Cowlishaw answered your questions in a chat Wednesday. Here are some highlights.

Dubie asks ... Any possibility that Newman moves to free saftey?

TIM COWLISHAW: I think of free safeties as big-time hitters. That's not Newman. I think of corners moving to safety when they have lost their speed. That's not (a healthy) Newman.

Chris M asks ... Am I the only one who finds the Garrett love leaning towards accepting "mediocrity." I saw a lot of the same issues that were coming out under Wade, just they were actually trying harder. They were supposed to be good to start so I think people are acting like 5-3 was incredible when it was expected to start.

TIM COWLISHAW: I don't think 5-3 was incredible but he rallied a team that had quit on Wade. His numbers as a coordinator for four years are anything but mediocre. Cowboys were a high-scoring team this year and were 7th in total yards despite losing their QB in game six. That's not mediocrity or anything close to it, Chris.

Dubie asks ... Did Gurode make the Pro Bowl on reputation this year? Seems he got pushed around alot (as did the rest of the O-line).

TIM COWLISHAW: Yes.

Fans only account for a third of the votes. Coaches a third, and players a third.

It's not the fans getting the people in. Hell, Washington fans had a campaign to get Cooley in, and he was the top vote getter for TE's, but he didn't get in.

I was listening to Strahan a few days ago on the Jim Rome show, and he said that the reason so many people make it on reputation is because even the players themselves don't take it seriously, and since they can't vote for anyone on their team, they just go by names as well. Strahan took it a step further and said that most of the time, you don't even know which guys are having a great year because you're so focused on your opponent for the coming week, and you don't get to see all the games like a fan would.

Nevertheless, pretty much everything about the Pro Bowl is a joke - from who gets in, to when it's played. They ought to just have an All Pro first and 2nd team selected, and leave it at that.

Hate to rain on your "Dallas Fans Hate" fellas BUT NOT ONE Cowboy would have made the Pro Bowl if they left it up to the fans.

After fan voting was over we had no Pro Bowlers !!!! Not even Witten or Ware..

The players and coaches voted them in so please redirect your venom towards them.

Some guys get bonuses for making the Pro Bowl and/or All-Pro.For many players it strokes their ego.

Some guys relish the trip to Hawaii, and the chance to put their pitch in to guys who are free agents.

Otherwise it's a half ass honor, and a game that has mediocre football being played in it.

Understood.

Doesn't change the fact that I don't see how in the hell Gurode made it in.
