Columnist Tim Cowlishaw answered your questions in a chat Wednesday. Here are some highlights.
guest asks ... What is wrong with Bill Cowher as coach?
TIM COWLISHAW: I don't think there's anything necessarily wrong with him. I think he's hard to evaluate because he coached in Pittsburgh. Everyone in Pittsburgh has had success, it's a great organization. I don't know about him as an evaluator, I wouldn't have bent over backwards to try to interest him in Dallas...which I don't think he was too interested in.
Curly Lambeau asks ... Was Mike Holmgren ever considered for the Cowboys' vacancy? Will he come back to coaching somewhere else?
TIM COWLISHAW: Mike Holmgren is running the Browns and making I don't know $6 million? Maybe $7 million? If he wants to coach them, he will. Why would he get rid of his power and come here?
Joe asks ... So you think there is no chance of Gruden being the guy?
TIM COWLISHAW: No. Nor should there be. Just enjoy him saying "this guy" a thousand more times on TV.
Mark E Mark asks ... Should we hoping for Sparano to come back? In what capacity?
TIM COWLISHAW: I know Sparano has been mentioned. I don't see where he fits. I don't think he goes from being a head coach to the Cowboys' offensive line coach. What's the point of being coordinator here if Garrett's the real coordinator whether he carries the title or not? I don't see a fit. Doesn't mean it won't happen.
Guest asks ... Is Don Capers a viable candidate for DC? I understand that his contract with the Packers expires on Feb 1st (I could be misunderstanding too). I'd love to see him working with our 3-4.
TIM COWLISHAW: Dom Capers has done an excellent job for Pack this season. Not sure why they would let him go. Don't think a lateral move to a defense that isn't as good as Green Bay's would be his first option.
