I dont think either is anymore effective at "disguising" blitzes. A good coach knows how to do this regardless of what the front being played is.

Jim Johnson's blitzes were diabolical. Steve Spagnoulo comes up with creative blitzes. Gregg Williams always has. Buddy Ryan's 4-6defense was devastating with its blitzes and how well conceived/executed they were. Tom Landry was a genius at developing effective blitzes.

But a blitz is most effective if an offense doesn't know where it's coming from.

So asking Ware to play OLB in a 4/3 with the intent of having him rush the QB every down (a) reduces the effectiveness of the blitz (b) makes an easy to exploit whole in the defense.
If Ware were a 4-3 DE he would rush every play too. It's not a blitz until you send that 5th defender. I happen to like the 3-4 for Ware because he's standing up. It may just be a personal preference, but I think he's better at that than he would be with a hand on the ground.
