Operation Recreate 2014 continues.
That is so interesting a concept. 2014 was surprising, unique and with a record setting running game, seemed to just define itself as the season progressed. It was the first season in a long time that Jerry or Jason did not overtly talk about emulating parts of the Chargers, the Patriots, or the Seahawks offenses. 2014 was what a lot of us have been wishing for and that is: an offense based on the strengths of the talent (a zone blocking scheme and WCO running game - 50+ catches from RB, and a less desperate passing game).
But to your point, the obsession seems to be a regression. Instead of building with what they have, Jason and Jerry might falling back into "let's copy what they did" which instead of the Patriots and Norv Turners Chargers, the goal is to imitate the 2014 Cowboys. And to that end, Jason will probably have about as much success as he did in replicating the Patriots 2TE offense or the Norv Turner Charger offense with Antonio Gates.
Really hope Elliott just re-defines this team.
