Cowboys signed DT Marvin Austin, formerly of the Dolphins.
The 2011 second-round pick keeps getting chances because he has talent, but to this point Austin has not shown any of it on the field, primarily due to injuries. He'll be a depth piece on a depleted Cowboys defensive line.

He and Bruce were really close at UNC, they will be excited about playing together again.

I said this in another thread... I wanted us to sign him after the Giants cut him because I thought maybe he got caught up in a numbers game. I figured since the Dolphins also cut him after a few weeks, he might not have anything.

But, Rod Marinelli has been getting guys to play over their heads, so maybe him coming to Dallas is a good thing. I mean, I love that we're signing trench players.

If he shows anything... him and Selvie could turn out to be decent young lineman for us over the next few years. But thats a probably unrealistic best case scenario.

I was hoping we'd draft this kid. Nice. Hopefully the injury bug doesn't stick. I like the signing.

Marvin Austin is 24, George Selvie is 26, Drake Nevis is 24, and then Jarius Wynn, Nick Hayden, and Caesar Rayford are all 27.

Best case scenario is we have affordable depth going into next year. Worst case scenario is Jerry will use this "success" as reasons to not address the D Line again and try to hide that his salary cap mismanagement is killing us.

‏@nickeatman 22m Marvin Austin will wear No. 90. Interesting

Why is that "interesting?"

I like it. I much prefer this kind of move than trading a premium or even mid round pick for somebody else's trash.

I trust RM more than anyone in this entire organization right now. He's doing a damn good job.
