Of the 3 runs that went his way, he was in on 2 tackles, took on a double team on the play at :30, where D Ware got completely blown up and knocked on his ass by a 3rd string TE, and also had one bad play that he got knocked out of the play completely on towards the end there. So really he had one bad play in that entire video, which, even if he had 8 bad plays in that video, wouldn't prove that he hasn't been our best player against the run the past 2 or 3 years.

Gurode is stupid which is why continuity, especially the continuity Kosier brings, is so important.

If you took a random person who didn't know Olshansky, showed him that video and asked him to pick out Olshanksy using the following criteria:

Find the person who (a) gets off the ball half a second after everyone else (b) plays on the wrong side of the LOS constantly and (c) might be wearing roller skates

I bet they could figure out who he was.

The name on the back of the jersey might give it away of course.

I'm just saying, it's bad.

I don't think speed off the ball is something that is a huge issue with your 300 lb DE in a 34. He's still strong enough to hold up at the POA and hold up blockers for Ware to get in there and make plays. Of course, it doesn't help when Ware is being dominated by TE's, but the point still remains.

I agree though, he's slow off the ball.

Joke post?

Speed off the ball is everything - everything - along the line. That half second - you've already lost. You're going to be spending that play on the wrong side of the LOS.

I wasn't taking a shot at Kosier. I wouldn't mind him back in a reasonable short term deal. A veteran bandaid until we can find his replacement.

But this notion that continuity is important at a position of great weakness for this team is idiotic.

Continuity gave you Wade Phillips as head coach last year.

Sure, it's important for an offensive line to stay together and gel. It's also important if those guys can play a little bit.

Thank you.

For so long people were saying the same thing about safety. "Two new safeties? I dont know".

First of all, they sucked anyway. And second of all, its an entirely new defense and Sensabaugh knows it less than Elam.

Id replace the guard on the other side though.

I dunno, Kosier has been injury prone and Davis is just fat and old. I wouldn't mind replacing both of them this year.

Be tough to do in a single year. I say cut Davis for salary cap room and resign Kosier on the cheap.

The line was always going to take 3 years to fix once they realized it was a horibble unit. It should have been top priority 2, maybe 3 years ago. Instead, we get continuity.

This unit has epitomized continuity. They continue to suck every year just like clockwork.

Kosier isn't worth more than any other mid-range FA guard, hopefully his supposed new contract reflects that.

I'd cut Davis outright.

I'd have no problem doing this. Naturally, we would need to bring in someone to replace Davis because no way, can we have two rookies on the right side. My preference would be Blalock.

That wouldn't be bad. Would have to be a deal with a very very low base pay and a high signing bonus in order to actually save us money, but i can't see a player having a problem with that.
