Who knew that all we needed to fix the O Line was Mackenzy Bernadeau and Nate Livings ?

Theebs, I know scouts are usually broken up by region but do you know which scout or head scout is responsible for offensive line scouting ?

Those were some horrible draft picks.

Yeah a number of them in the 3rd and 4th round.

The reason we have to sign7players in free agency is because we can not draft worth a damn outside of the first round.

Fuck.

Yeah, lets go out and get a bunch of guys who are worse than what was out there last year.

That'll do the trick.

This fucking front office.

They could have just signed Grubbs or Nicks and then drafted a guard. They're paying two bitches to patch up the line instead.

They have absolutely no vision for this team. They basically let players continue on until they just absolutely break down and die (see: newman, brooking, zach thomas, james, flozell, etc.) until they realize that it's time to address a position. Romo can scramble a little and buy some time, so they probably think they can get away with cheaper dumbass Olinemen. Great idea.

Haven't seen much of a change in mentality ever since Stephen assumed a larger role in the FO. People waiting for jerrah to retire or die should probably think about that.

While it's okay to miss some midround picks you can't consistently miss on 3rd/4th/5th rounders. They are your depth and potentially starters 2 or 3 years down the road.

I know I pay most of my attention to the Cowboys but I don't know of any other fan base (especially on the Zone) where the fans expect every undrafted free agent to be a superstar and they excuse all of the missed mid-round picks. I almost feel Jerry thinks this way now. Finding Tony Romo, Miles Austin, and Jay Ratliff (in the 7th round) has really skewed the way we look at the Front Office's overall performance.

Waters rings a bell for instance. Pro bowler in New England last year.

"We're gonna get 6 players that will get lots of fantasy football points for us each week, and then fill in the rest of the roster with anyone we can find who was a starter for equally shitty teams as the Dallas Cowboys. Livings is a great example. He started for the juggernaut Bengals at guard, so he must obviously be great. Because if they're good enough to be a mediocre starter for teams that have never won a Super Bowl, they sure as hell are good enough to wear the star on the their helmet. Signed and done."

This generation's Kosier/Colombo. Love the signings. Love this offseason, our front office hitting home runs left and right.

Yeah, what a fucking sham that was.

Would be nice to have Waters for another season or two and draft DeCastro.

Agreed. Don't know what to expect with these two guard signings.

DeCastro would be a definite starter here for at least the next 8-10 years.

Seriously. I have bitched and moaned about plenty of Cowboy signings/draft picks but on a talent level, this is right up there with Shante Carver and Quincy Carter. This guy can not play.

Disappointing. I either liked or could rationalize every other signing. This one is baffling.

Didn't we draft those guys?

Remember, Cowboys have a new O-line coach. He may be looking for specific sorts of guys. Must see something he likes in Livings.

Doesn't make him right.

Jerry saw something he liked in Shante Carver, Quincy Carter, Dwayne Goodrich, Roy Williams(WR).

Livings sucks. This wasn't a case of the previous team having a young player ready to step in or not wanting to pay him, they wanted no part of him. He was a glaring weakpsot for them last year. We just gave him $6M guaranteed.

Copy/pasting this:

According to Pro Football Focus, Livings ranked 56th among guards last season and was tied for 53th in 2010.

Livings was graded poorly by Pro Football Focus for last year, with this quote about his standing among the Bengals line.

Worst Player: Left Guard Nate Livings (-10.4) had some fine moments (especially his shut down of Antonio Smith in Week 14), but was all too often capable of being beaten like a drum. Ahtyba Rubins’ handling of him in Week 12 is a solid example of this.
