Best WR on the team last year.......not a priority.

Forget that he's stated numerous times he wants to stay in Dallas........not a priority.

Maybe Donald Driver could communicate Jimmy Robinson's message better to Dez and serve as some type of mentor to him ala Chris Carter mentoring Randy Moss when he 1st came into the league. While becoming a reliable target for Romo on 3rd downs. He can't be any slower than Patrick Crayton was.

The big plays at WR should come from Dez and Austin. So I think we'd be alright moving on from Robinson and going with Driver instead.

You are outta your mind on this. Crayton wasnt "fast" but he was pretty quick in and out of his breaks. Driver is 37 yrs old and has been slowing down bigtime for 2-3 seasons now.

No way I'd want him over Robinson, doubtful anybody in the league would either.

Right. So every team that values their 3rd WR pays them franchise type dollars.

No, but a team that considers a player a priority will do everything in their power to ensure that he remains on their squad. Which usually means getting into a bidding war with other teams for his services, thus driving up the price tag for him.

All things being equal, I wouldn't want Driver over Robinson either. But I don't want to tie up money in the receiver position, because quite frankly they aren't that important.

The only thing we do really well is find receivers every year. I think we should continue to do that.

Or they might avoid a bidding war by signing him to a deal thats good for both sides before free agency starts.

Do you really think he IS their best receiver?

You got to detach your love of the underdog story from the truth of his abilities. Hes not particularly great at any one thing and has injury concerns. What some call chemistry I call being in the right place at the right time. Did he have any scores where he beat a double? Where he outjumped someone for the ball? Where He burned his man?

I've been told that Driver is willing to cone in very cheaply and wants to help Jimmy Robinson get through to Dez. A VERY trusted source told me Laurent Likes money. I don't think were in a position to pay a 4th or 5th weapon #2 WR money. We have bigger holes to fill.

Would you rather have Driver on a 1 year deal or Laurent on a 3 yr/$20 Deal?

Well, I never had my love attached to the underdog, only the guy who produced most.

I suggest you detach your love for names from the truth of their production.

Obviously I don't think Robinson is the most talented WR on the team. But then again, talent doesn't matter to me.

And yes, he burnt his man against Buffalo for a 58 yard TD. He had three catches that were longer than Dez's or Miles' longest receptions.

Personally, I don't care what Driver wants for pay or in terms of his humanitarian intent. Like he'll be the one guy to get through to Dez. Listen, if we're counting on Driver to save Dez from whatever it might be we might as well just consider him done.

Sure, Laurent probably does like money. Find me a player who doesn't. That doesn't mean that he's going to get all he's asking for.

It's not like I'm suggesting Robinson become the #1 WR on the team or anything because he doesn't provide what Dez and Miles do. But shit, lets not act like he was some fucking slouch either. The guy had like the 3rd most TDs of ALL WRs in the NFL.

Would you rather have Driver on a 1 year deal or Laurent on a 3 yr/$20 Deal?

Is this a joke? Lets see.......Donald Driver as basically a mentor for one season at which time Dallas prays to find a #3 who can provide more than the Ogletrees, Hurds and Holleys this team has seen in the past few years.

Or

Sign a guy for 3 years who just lead the team as a WR. Even at 20M, I'll take Robinson. And I doubt it takes 20M. Is that what your trusted source told you, 20M?

My love of big names like Dwayne Harris or Joe Adams?

You're Making Laurent out to be a baller when he just benefited from the incredible production of Romo. I can't in good conscience shell out big money for a guy who didn't impress me one time last year. Dez caught jump balls, broke tackles, caught game-winners on route adjustments. Miles ripped a jump ball from Cromartie week 1 and lit up a great defense in sf for 3 scores and had that great Mission Impossible play. THEY made plays. Laurent gets singled up waits for Romo to scramble and catches the easy score. Things most capable nfl WR's can Do.

I'll take pretty much anyone on a 1 yr deal, last year I even said I'd take Sensabaugh back and I hate him. But I don't see that happening here and we need to spend on fat guys, Something we haven't had in years. WR is one thing we have been able to find. Plus we might be drafting one anyway b/c we need a returner.

I've talked to 4 teams willing to go in that range for Laurent but another source told me he wants to give Dallas every opportunity to rival that offer. Don't be surprised to hear rumblings of Laurent meeting w/ a few teams then coming back to Dallas on a 3 yr/$15M deal.

Well, I was talking about Austin and Bryant who as of late haven't lived up to their billing.

How many awesome plays does Witten make? I'd bet anything there are TEs who make more impressive plays than him but there are not many who regularly outperform him.

Highlights don't impress me. Solid, steady production does.

I said I wouldn't make him the #1 on the team, wouldn't make him a #2 because he filled his role as #3 better than anyone could have expected and theres no need to mess with it.

But here's something to think about, given the injury history of Austin and Bryant it might just be worth it to pay him a little more than the average #3 because he could very well fill a significant amount of time (like this season) as the #2.

Find WRs? Like who? Name a player other than Austin or Robinson who has been found at that position since the beginning of the Wade Era. And Austin wasn't even a Wade era acquisition either.

So, in the last 7 years or so, Dallas has "found" 1 WR. Laurent.

All the WRs that have produced outside of those guys have been high priced acquisitions and some of the high prices didn't even produce like Roy Williams.

That 60 yard score VS Washington was nice. Buy then again that was yet another Romo scramble.

My point isn't that Robinson isn't useful, just that he isn't worth the money he'll probably get because he's not overly skilled.

Robinson has his own injury concerns. And if/when he's forced to be the #2 due to injury he can't beat those coverages. It's a whole different gameplan and set of coverages.

Late round QB Patrick crayton? Even little Danny amendola would probably be a good Eddie royal slot guy in our offense.

I'd take 3 years, 15M
.

I wouldn't cry about it but I would rather search the waiver-wire and also draft a WR/RS

If Laurent goes for something like 3 years, 15 mil. That's definitely something I could get on board with. But if it comes down to the highest bidder, I'd rather someone else take him off our hands.

Both sides made their case.

Text "mb4" to 1800-universe if you think Marionbarberthe4th won. Text "hoof" if you think hoofbite won.
