I don't agree that McGee is as good as Kitna. Kitna at least can challenge teams down the field some. Checkdown McGee still looks overwhelmed reading pro defenses.

Kitna's got the experience you'd want to fill in for a game or two. He could hit the wall at any point. That's true. Maybe that will happen this year, but I'd still roll the dice with him as the backup to Romo while getting another developmental QB to groom in the 3rd spot.

I'm just not a McGee guy. I see no upside in him.

Checking down is all Kitna did last year.

I thought he hooked up with Dez on some big plays.

He did, especially early. New York comes to mind. Defenses seemed to figure out that if they got to him him early it took down field away. Does not have that quick release Romo has.

You are a moron, I've never picked an Aggie over anyone because of school ties. Kitna wins those games because he has experience over McGee and nothing else. Kitna is also owed $2.2m to McGee's $500k. You talk by about throwing the old guys out yet you want to keep a 38 yr old QB. Kitna is going down hill fast, the next time he sees any action he will not be the same guy.

You are a moron for ballwashing the guy. He's taking up roster space. He's worthless. Could of had him as a UFDA, Aa 4th is way too much for him.

Not too many QBs in the elague has as quick a release as Romo, in fact, a few years back they commented on Romo's released and compared him to Marino's and revelaed that Romo had the quicker release.

I'd take Dalton in the second if we can trade down slightly in the first and accumulate more picks.

Pick one....

Romo, Kitna, McGee

or

Romo, McGee, Dalton

Now keep in mind, if you choose to add Dalton, that means you are using a 3rd or 4th round pick in this draft. Costing you a player at another position, if you were to choose the first option.

Romo, Kitna, McGee.

Dalton doesn't do it for me... and for the pick that it would require to get him I'd rather use it on another position.

How am I "ballwashing" McGee? I've never said he was worth the pick we took him at or that he is anything more than a backup. The fact is he is just as good as Kitna while costing $1.5m less and being more than 10 years younger. If you throw him out now you are stuck with Kitna, who should retire any day now. When Kitna walks out the door what are you going to do for a backup QB? Best option is to keep the cheap JAG who knows the system while continuing to look for your next franchise player.

Look, it is obvious that you know something about football but you really need to try to think before you post. Try to apply some common sense to what you say. It will make you more liked on the internet.

Hey, if you believe McGee is just as capable of winning a meaningful game in 2011 as Kitna, then yeah....release the old, more expensive veteran.

But cmon....we're at the Linc midway through the season for sole ownership of the division lead. Who do you trust more in that game?

I'll take the old man.

Feh, Kitna checked down as many times as McGee so for being the more experienced backup he doesn't hold that much on him.

Having said that I'd be okay with McGee for a few games in place of Romo.

I don't agree.

What Kitna did for most of the season looked nothing like checkdown Charlie's game and half against the Cardinals and the Eagles backups in preseason mode.

Now Kitna might look like Brad Johnson next year. Who knows. He's near 40. He could hit the wall at any time. But I'll take my chances on a guy who at least had ability over the guy I don't think ever had any.

I figured you wouldn't agree. lol

As for McGee, I don't think he's much more than a backup QB in this league. I think in that role he'll do fine. Now if he had to play an entire season I would be worried.

Kitna is nearing 40 and probably doesn't have much left in the tank so I'm ready to move on, but If Romo were to go down for several games I wouldn't mind signing Kitna back because I doubt teams will be lined up for his services.
