IRVING — Starting defensive tackle Jason Hatcher had an MRI on his shoulder Monday and the Dallas Cowboys will have to monitor his progress this week to see if he has a chance to play Sunday night against Washington.
Hatcher injured his shoulder late in Sunday’s loss to Denver. On Monday, Hatcher couldn’t raise his arm above shoulder level.
Hatcher described the injury Monday as a stinger. He said he’s “not sure” if he’ll be able to practice Wednesday.
“We’ll see when Wednesday gets here,” Hatcher said.
Earlier, Hatcher downplayed his injury.
“I had a little stinger. I’m came out for a drive and got right back in there. It’s like mild,” Hatcher said. “It’s nothing that I’m too worried about.”
Hatcher has played as well as any Cowboys player this season in their new 4-3 Tampa 2 scheme. He already has three sacks. Hatcher can’t afford to miss much time considering this is the final year of his contract and his performance this season will go a long way in determining his value this off-season when he is set to become an unrestricted free agent.
