Free is not going to put the Bucs over the top in that division. Period. You would think that the Bucs would go after Clabo from the Falcons and thereby weaken their rival.
I am kind of getting myself resigned to the notion that Free will be gone. This is freaking Jerry's screwup.
1.) He held onto Adams too long. Adams should have been let go at least a year earlier than what he was. That way, we could have used two years to evaluate Free, and thereby get some idea as to what kind of player Free really is as opposed to let him do it for one eyar and then worry about either losing him or overpaying him. If he proved to be the real deal after two seasons, then you franchise him. Then we wouldn't have to be holding onto Colombo because we don't know what Free is going to do.
Alwasy been Jerry's problem: holding onto players too long. And only cutting them because they have to be cut. Something like this salary cap issue had to force his hand, because more than likely he still would have held onto them if he could have.
This whole thing with the Oline is messed up and now there is a mad dash. Rackley should have been drafted in the 3rd round. I believe that Rackley could have and would have came right in and started day 1, regardless of the lockout. Murray would have likely been there in the 4th. Jerry f.ucking panicked, and decided that getting an RB was more important than fixing the Oline. If we had gotten Rackley, then releasing Davis would have been much smoother, we kick Rackley over to LG and then re-sign Kosier and slide him over to RG, because naturally, you do not want two rookies playing the same side of your Oline.
