I saw this during the game and thought it was highly unusual. Now there's this story.

Cowboys have asked NFL to investigate Giants’ use of unregulated radio

The Dallas Cowboys have asked the NFL to investigate the New York Giants’ reported use of unregulated walkie talkies from a 10-7 Giants victory Sunday night, Troy Hughes from 105.3 The Fan first reported the Cowboys request.

During the course of the game, Eli Manning’s in-helmet radio cut out and then for several plays wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr. ran in the plays before they got Manning a back-up helmet that required head coach Ben McAdoo to use a handheld walkie-talkie to signal in the plays.

Pictures tweeted during the game showed McAdoo on the handheld device, which isn’t controlled by the NFL.

As Hughes pointed out Monday morning, a NFL employee is responsible for cutting off the in-helmet microphones when the play clock hits 15 seconds. With McADoo on a walkie talkie, the NFL wouldn’t be able to control the communication.

Did this have an impact on the Giants victory? Maybe. Either way, it’s something the NFL needs to take a further look at.

Because that would explain the incredible game Eli played.

I noticed that as well. The way the Giants offense was playing, I thought he was calling in an air strike. Danger close.

Has anyone been following the Giants "communication/headsets" controversy? What's going on with that?

They are looking into it and have said that the Cowboys did Not initiate it with a complaint

A fine? Maybe

It's not severe enough to lose a pick and the Cowboys have already said that it did NOT effect the outcome of the game

The New York Giants will be fined for the illegal use of walkie-talkies during their win over the Dallas Cowboys last weekend, according to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Giants coach Ben McAdoo was seen on the sidelines last Sunday holding a walkie-talkie as a way to communicate with quarterback Eli Manning when the team was having difficulty getting the plays to Manning via the traditional helmet headset. It is against NFL rules for coaches to hold any two-way radios during a game.

Citing league sources, Schefter reported that the amount of the fine is still to be determined, though the Giants are not expected to lose any draft compensation over the ordeal.

Though the Cowboys admitted it was "obvious" that the Giants used the walkie-talkies in the loss, the team did not blame the defeat on the violation.

"If you're asking me if it affected the outcome of the game, no," owner Jerry Jones said this week.

Bottom line is they openly cheated to gain an advantage...

What will happen to the Giants? not a damn thing, however if Mara whined like the little whiner he is you can bet Dallas would be forfeiting a draft pick next year had it happened to the Giants (probably a first rounder at that)

Giants favoritism yet again

Probably some truth here

They knew every play we called in the second half on both offense and defense. Being able to radio in adjustments and heads up info right up to the snap is a huge advantage. Seems like their coach should eat a 4 game suspension on top of fines at the very least, but this is one of the privileged teams, so slap on the wrist it will be.

On the other hand, had Dallas done this it would have dominated both the sports news as well as MSM news this whole week.

How did they know every play we were running? Come on.

When you can radio in what the offense is doing as far as audibles, and alignments up to the last second of the playclock then you most certainly can know every play we call. Hell, they could even be radioing in tips while the play is running for that matter with these walkie talkies. "He's behind you!", "cut to your left and shoot the gap", etc.
