Just to play Devil's Advocate here, but the team's average yards per attempt wouldn't accurately reflect DeCastro's ability to hit the 2nd level.

In many cases it would.

Anyway, back at MBIV.

He appears to be getting to the second level quite well. And he pulls like nobody's business.

Hey you can teach a guy these things. But Farting around at the LOS is not conducive to big time nfl run blocking. He should be beating his man off, then passing to the next level more quickly.

And then I just read he hit the ground 6 times in one game? There's room for improvement there

You'd 1st have to break it down to the rushing average from whatever side DeCastro lined up, then go from there.

Because say for instance if the Stanford Cardinals averaged over 5 yards a rush as a team, but only 4 yards or so from DeCastro's side (him and whatever OT he lined up next to), and 6 yards and some change from the other side (the other OG and OT tandem).

Then you'd have to break the film down and determine how much of that average came from DeCastro alone.

I doubt it would be the case of them averaging more yards per rush from the opposite side of DeCastro, just saying, looking at a team's overall rushing output wouldn't tell you anything about an individual player's blocking.

I hope the 1st round doesn't fall according to CBSSportsline's rankings. We'd have Keuchly, Janoris Jenkins, Devon Still, Jonathan Martin and Dre Kirkpatrick to choose from at 14. Keuchly isn't a bad thing in itself, but we already invested highly in Sean Lee and Bruce Carter. The rest elicit a huge 'meh' from me.

Definite trade down scenario.

Then that's when you trade down for either Glenn or Poe.
