The Dallas Cowboys checked in today at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala., with one of the largest, if not the largest, contingents.

Owner-general manager Jerry Jones led the group, which included head coach Jason Garrett and assistants. Newly hired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is in the group, but declined to comment on his plans until he has a full staff.

Ryan is looking for assistants to handle the line and linebackers. Don Martindale, who handled linebackers when Ryan served as Oakland's defensive coordinator, is a candidate, but he has also attracted interest from Baltimore and the New York Jets.

Cowboys Contingent Arrives At Senior Bowl

Posted by rphillips at 1/24/2011 12:42 PM CST on truebluefanclub.com

The Cowboys and the rest of the NFL has arrived for Senior Bowl week here in Mobile, Ala., set to scout some 100 elite senior prospects over the next few days.

Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones, head coach Jason Garrett and his current coaching staff, scouts and front office staff arrived Monday morning in time for the players’ official weigh-ins. One practice is scheduled Monday at separate locations for the North and South teams.

Coming off a 6-10 season, the Cowboys have the No. 9 overall pick. Defensive line, safety and offensive line are among the speculated positions of need.

The Bengals and Bills coaching staffs are coaching the North and South teams, respectively. Eight practices are scheduled over the next five days.

“You get to see these guys practice with pro-oriented coaches,” Jones said. “And you get to see one-on-ones a lot. You get to see the production on tape, (with) our scouts up close, competing against each other in colleges, but you don’t get to see this type of unique competition on a one-on-one basis. That’s a big plus here.”

Too bad Jerry wouldn't know a quality offensive lineman if he came up and pancaked Jerry.

Cowboys staff at Senior Bowl

By Calvin Watkins

MOBILE, Ala. -- The potential of a lockout will not stop NFL teams in their preparations for the NFL Draft.

Cowboys officials are here watching practices of the top seniors as they prepare for Saturday's Senior Bowl.

New defensive coordinator Rob Ryan walked through the Renaissance hotel with defensive coaches Dave Campo and Brett Maxie on Monday afternoon getting ready to watch the afternoon session.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is expected to watch one of the afternoon practices at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Here's a list of some of the players with some local interest participating in the game: Andy Dalton, Sam Ach, Jake Kirkpatrick, Von Miller, Greg McElroy, Phil Taylor, Jeremy Beal, Quinton Carter and DeMarco Murray.

...with defensive coaches Dave Campo and Brett Maxie ....

My eyes, my eyes!

Please, I don't ask for much. Someone get rid of these 2. They have as much business staying employed as an oil man being the GM of an NFL team. Oh wait....

Ryan's Work Ethic Impresses Jones

Posted by rphillips at 1/24/2011 12:49 PM CST on truebluefanclub.com

Joining Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones and Co. in Mobile this week is new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who was decked out in Cowboys attire Monday morning at the players’ official weigh-ins.

Ryan was unavailable for comment Monday morning and might not meet with reporters until the entire coaching staff is finalized. But Jones is excited about Ryan’s arrival, citing his experience and his work ethic.

“One of the things that carries with him by reputation is he’s an extremely hard worker,” Jones said. “He really puts the time in. That’s evidenced certainly right off the bat here.”

No F'ing way Campo is Fat Rob's first pick to coach his secondary.

They don't respect that poodle looking waste. He should have been the 1st coach to go after they got rid of Wade.

Man, just when you think there might be some real change here they don't get rid one of the main problems with the D.
....
......
.........

When will the Jones get a clue ? Once the skins make it to Super bowl ???? or maybe the Lions ??? This sucks.

Hopefully Fat Rob will show him how he wants the DB's to attack and if he doesn't like it......

I just don't see how a Head Coach or GM can look at last year's secondary play and say "Yeah, let's bring back the guy responsible for that."

Not saying they will, but it could be Ryan took one look at the non existant pass rush (outside of Ware) and said thats the problem...and he'd have been right

Agreed.

But, I still want Campo gone. He's a constant reminder of failure. I'd rather start over with fresh faces on the defensive staff.
