IRVING, Texas -- With starting right tackle Doug Free out three-to-four weeks with a fractured right foot, the Cowboys boosted their line with the signing of veteran tackle Tony Hills on Wednesday.
The team released defensive end Lavar Edwards to make room for Hills.
The Cowboys had three tackles on the injury report on Wednesday: Starting left tackle Tyron Smith (ankle), Free's replacement Jeremy Parnell (chest) and Free.
Smith and Parnell are expected to play in Sunday's game against the New York Giants.
Donald Hawkins is another tackle on the roster who could play if needed.
"Hawkins certainly has an advantage, this guy is just getting here," coach Jason Garrett said. "But we like this guy. He has a little experience, so we’ll see."
