The Dallas Cowboys went outside the organization to find some help for their depleted defensive line.

The team has completed a trade that landed them defensive end Lavar Edwards from the Tennessee Titans for a conditional seventh-round pick, a source confirmed.

Edwards, a fifth-round pick out of LSU in 2013, played in seven games for the Titans last season, starting one. His career stats include five tackles and one pass defended.

The Cowboys need as much depth in the defensive line as possible.

Anthony Spencer made the 53-man roster. He passed his physical on Saturday, but likely won’t play until Week 2.

Rookie DeMarcus Lawrence has also been lost for at least the early part of the season after he fractured a bone in his right foot early in training camp.

The team also released or waived 21 players on Saturday including running back Ryan Williams, wide receivers LaRon Byrd and Jamar Newsome, along with injured linebacker Orie Lemon and defensive tackle Zack Minter.

I like the trade too. Putting aside the "well he went to LSU and prolly had some side effect of Saban being there at some point", Edwards is talented and has Reed Richards arms.

He's better than any 7th rounder we would've drafted next year.

He's a position of need.

He's got good measurable and potential.

He's young and comes from a big time program.

This move and the Martin pick are basically the only two moves I really like about this offseason.

I still like the Hitchens, Lawrence, Gardner and Bishop picks. I liked the potential of Mitchell but letting him go means that he was not worth the effort or the Garret gang has no player development skill.

Im so out of touch with this team I'm not even sure who Minter is.

Never thought I'd be so apathetic towards my Cowboys. Damn you Jerry and Jason.
