On the otherhand, it would make sense that they would not cut Colombo just yet, when things are up in the air with Doug Free.

Thats my thinking on this. Free did leave VR per reports, and there was no word on any new deal.

From the sound of things, they're wanting to hold onto Colombo until Free gives them an answer. Colombo and Free have the same agent.

Here's the answer, probably means Free has decided to shop around:

Hmmm.. I don't know. We'd have the rookie Smith kicked over to LT, and then Young at RT....? I'd prefer Young as a swing tackle.

Me too, but with colombo the emergency backup, that means more snaps will be going to him. Meaning he'll get a chance to work with the starters more than Young will.

Gogan, 6'7. Inch difference. No big deal. Davis 6'6. I thought Davis was 6'7. Still, it's not like a towering one or two inches.

Gogan may have been the exception, but Davis proved too tall to play the position once his quickness left him and/or he became lazy. Players would blow right past him because he wasn't low enough in his stance to move quickly enough in the "phone booth".
